The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix returns for season 2 in July.
Fans of the popular Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer are thrilled to have a date for the arrival of the show’s second season. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Mickey Haller, the fast-talking attorney that spends much of his day working from one of his Lincoln vehicles. I am partial to the Lincoln convertible passed down from Mickey’s late father who was also a defense attorney.
No matter which variety of Lincoln you prefer, you will get to see trusted driver Izzy escorting Mickey around Los Angeles again beginning July 6th.
There is a 2-part release format scheduled for this season of The Lincoln Lawyer. Episodes 1-5 will drop on July 6th. Remaining episodes 6-10 will arrive to Netflix on August 3rd.
Where we left off
Season 1 was based on the best-selling Michael Connelly novel The Brass Verdict. Last season Mickey manages to secure the release of an innocent man, Jesus Menendez, who was accused of killing prostitute Martha Renteria. The true killer tried to strike again, but his plans were foiled by fast-thinking Gloria Dayton aka “Glory Days” who knows that Menendez was not the man from whom she escaped.
Jesus is free, but the murderer is still at large and not far away. As the final episode of season 1 comes to a close, we see the killer watching Mickey enter the ocean to go surfing. We recognize the killer by the tell-tale tattoo on his wrist, the one that Glory Days described in court. Just as Mickey is getting back on his feet with a new caseload and his drug habit in the rearview mirror, we now fear for his life.
Where we are going
Author of The Lincoln Lawyer novels and an executive producer on the series, Michael Connelly, has shared that season 2 will draw from novel The Fifth Witness. Book readers will recall the story of Lisa Trammell on trial for murder. Actress Lana Parrilla will portray Trammell in the series.
Other cast additions for season 2 include Matt Angel and Yaya DaCosta. You can also look for veteran actress Angélica María as Mickey’s mother Elena.
Other loose ends
While Mickey’s safety is a top priority for viewers, there is other unfinished business leftover from season 1. Initially, Mickey and ex-wife Maggie McPherson look as though they might be headed for a reconciliation. Daughter Hayley loves spending time together as a family again. Unfortunately, Mickey withholds key information from prosecutor Maggie about one of her cases in order to protect his own. This drives a wedge between them, and Maggie puts an end to their reconciliation effort.
In other news, Mickey’s trusted friend and investigator, Cisco, heads out on his motorcycle at the end of episode 1o. He has received an assignment from leader of his former motorcycle gang, Teddy Vogul. Mickey has been providing pro bono services to The Road Saints club to cover Cisco’s debt for leaving the club. The burly investigator insists on paying his own debt and we fear what that cost may be.
Finally, second ex-wife and dedicated legal assistant Lorna is making plans to return to law school.
All 10 episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer season 1 are currently available on Netflix. You can revisit season 1 in preparation for the release of season 2. Or, if you are new to the show, now is a great time to catch up before season 2 part 1 arrives on July 6th.
