Married With Children:
Married With Children premiered on FOX on April 5th, 1987. It ran 11 seasons with 259 episodes aired. Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt created the show. Upon researching the show, I discovered that it is the longest-running live-action sitcom ever aired on FOX.
The show is set in Chicago, which is one of my wife’s and my favorite cities to visit. The opening credits feature the Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain, located at 301 S. Columbus Drive in Chicago, Illinois. Married With Children focuses on the Bundy family, not that Bundy family, ha ha. Al, Peggy, Kelly, and Bud. Al, a former high school football star, is now a salesperson for women’s shoes. Peggy is a stay-at-home mom and housewife but rarely cleans up around the house. Their two kids are Kelly, their dull-witted daughter, and Bud, who is quick-witted and sarcastic.
The show also featured the Bundys’ neighbors, Marcy and Steve; later, Marcy married a man named Jefferson. It was amusing to watch the animosity between the two families; however, Al and Jefferson eventually became friends.
The Main Cast:
Ed O’Neill – Al Bundy
Katey Sagal – Peggy Bundy
Christina Applegate – Kelly Bundy
David Faustino – Bud Bundy
Amanda Bearse – Marcy Rhodes/D’Arcy
Ted McGinley – Jefferson D’Arcy
David Garrison – Steve Rhodes
Guest Stars:
Married with Children had no lack of pure guest star talent during its run. In my research, I found a list of 286 individuals who have guest-starred on the show.
Milla Jovovich, Matt LeBlanc, Keri Russel, Jerry Springer, Tia Carrere, Pamela Anderson, Sam Kinison, B.B. King, and Cheech Marin are just the tip of the iceberg of the many people who guest-starred over the years of the show. I found a YouTube video featuring many of the guest stars who appeared on Married with Children.
