Dead City is heading for a finale of epic proportions.

Season 2 Episode 6: “Bridge Partners Are Hard To Come by These Days”

First-time director:

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, directed this episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City. And what an episode to direct. We see something never seen before in the The Walking Dead universe. However, I will get to that in a bit.

A lot of deception:

Between Bruegel, Hershel, Negan, Maggie, Croat, and Armstrong, numerous individuals are moving pieces to their advantage. Everyone has plans in mind for the future. But what does everyone have up their sleeve? Bruegel has plans to attack Negan and Croat’s group, but will that ultimately pay off? Pete seems to think that Bruegel may die in the season finale, but he hopes it doesn’t happen. Bruegel has become a fan favorite, especially since the actor playing him is such a seasoned and great actor.

Negan’s family arrives in the Dead City:

Negan’s family finally arrives by boat in the city, but before they can even get comfortable off the ship, Negan tells the people to load them back up and return them to where the Dama’s people took them from.

The Bear:

No, I am not talking about the show on FX. In Season 2, Episode 6 of The Walking Dead, Maggie and Hershel encounter a giant bear. After Hershel tries to poison the water supply, Maggie stops him from doing so. He tries to run off, but the door he exits has a giant bear waiting in the darkness. They close the door and rush to safety. Maggie and Hershel split up, and Maggie draws the bear to herself. She frees some walkers chained to a wall to assist, but the bear takes them out without much effort.

Just as we think this is the end for Maggie, Hershel distracts the bear by throwing knives into its face. Maggie draws the bear to the fence of the fighting ring, and it collapses onto the posts, impaling itself. Maggie looks up where Hershel was, but he is gone.

Who is in line to take over Dead City?

Between Negan, Bruegel, Croat, and Maggie, who do you think should stay to take over? Do you think Negan wants to lead another group or groups? Negan and Croat fight during this episode, because Croat figured out that Negan squashed The Dama’s rat. Negan wins the battle and tells Croat to leave and not come back. Do you feel that Croat will leave? He seems a bit lost since the Dama has died. I think Croat is a better number two or three than a leader. Before the fight with Negan, he mentions he would love to return to Croatia and that Negan and his family could join him.

Negan opens up:

After the fight with Croat, he sent his family off without even talking to them. Negan enters the cell where the Dama’s people previously held him. He hears something from another cell and discovers Benjamin inside. He was placed there by the Dama after she brought up her past. Negan lets him out and tells him he is free to go. They talk for a little while about their past lives, and Negan opens up about the sins of his past.

Ginny confronts Negan:

Towards the end of the episode, Ginny shows up at the church where Negan is. She aims a gun at his head, but due to the injury she sustained earlier, she collapses into Negan’s arms. If she were healthy, would she have pulled the trigger?

Dead City Season 2, Episode 7: “Novi Dan, Novi Pocetak”

Negan risks everything to help Ginny:

Negan watches over Ginny and sees the deep laceration on her back. She needs medical assistance to live, so Negan risks his life to get to a hospital in search of anything that can help Ginny. While at the hospital, Negan finds more than he bargained for when he comes across a boy walker. Negan tries to trap the boy instead of killing it, but gets knocked out in the process. When he comes to, he gets away from the one boy walker only to come across a whole room full of child walkers. They are not moving around. They seem to be in a catatonic state, so Negan has to maneuver around them carefully.

He makes his way into an operating room, but there is nothing there that would help. He sees a masked person rush out of the room, and he chases the person down. Negan unmasks the person, and he finds himself looking at his long-dead wife, Lucille. Played by Hilarie Burton, Morgan’s real-life wife. Negan is having some effects from the knock to his head earlier. He apologizes to Lucille about failing her, but she tells him he did not fail her at all. Before leaving the hospital, he finds a breathing machine that can help Ginny.

Where in Dead City is Hershel?

Maggie winds up coming across Croat, who says he can help Maggie find Hershel. He leads her into a tall building, which is supposed to be a safe house, but upon getting inside, it turns out Croat just wanted help dying. He was too scared to jump out of the building. Maggie wants to end it for him, but she sees a light coming from the New York Times building, and does not throw Croat out of the building. She goes to where she saw the light to find Hershel.

However, she also finds a surprise cliffhanger ending. The Dama is still alive? Or is she a twin sister? Either way, it means Hershel is still under the spell of whatever she has on him.

The ending of episode 7 sets up an exciting season finale, which is coming up soon.
