Slowing the pace to build up a solid storyline:

Pete and Mike discuss some of the moments from Dead City Season 2, Episodes 2 and 3:

Maggie and New Babylon:

Nothing seems right with the New Babylon people leading the charge into New York. There appears to be no solid plan other than to enter the city to collect methane. Their journey to New York was disastrous, as the Dama’s group catapulted dead zombies filled with methane. Which then blew up the boat New Babylon was using to cross the river.

When Maggie and the people of New Babylon make their way through Central Park, they encounter a new group of individuals. Additionally, during the journey into Central Park, the governor of New Babylon is killed by a walker, without any apparent direction from the people of New Babylon. Maggie tried to give them advice, but the governor of New Babylon disregarded it. So, with half the group either killed by the walker bombs or killed after getting into New York, the crew is down to the bare minimums.

Negan:

Negan faces challenges in these two episodes. However, it is good to see some of Negan’s swagger back on the screen. He has lost a friend, and the Dama is having his family brought to New York. Both Pete and Mike agree that Negan is biding his time and will soon unleash his fury on the people pulling his strings.

What awaits the Dama and Croat for all these moves they are making against Negan?

Central Park Group:

Maggie and New Babylon come across a new group that hides within Central Park. This group uses the dead walkers to shield their location. However, they have a weird way of dealing with their injured and dying. In this episode, we see walkers with holes where their hearts should be. That is how this new group handles their dead or dying. They take out their hearts after death, and put them out for other walkers to eat, while the dead person turns into a walker. The Central Park group feels that their dead family members keep them protected.

Hershel’s History:

In the third episode, we see some moments between the Dama and Hershel. The Dama gives him a bed, pencil, paper, and other frivolities to win over his trust. Is this done in case there is a standoff between Maggie and the Dama, Hershel may take the Dama’s side? Only time will tell about that, but the story is setting up to be an interesting turn.
