True Lies lead actors Ginger Gonzaga and Steve Howey recall fun and exhaustion from filming.

The cast of True Lies walked the red carpet at the 11th annual SCAD TVfest in Atlanta. Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga play super spy couple Harry and Helen Tasker on the show. The duo stopped to talk about their experience filming and the response they want for viewers. Read on for highlights and enjoy a clip from the interview.

Let’s have fun!

I asked Steve and Ginger to weigh in on what type of experience they want for True Lies viewers. Steve would like viewers “to reminisce from the blockbuster movie” of the same name, indicating that the show pays homage to the film. Both Steve and Ginger said they hope viewers would have fun with the show. Ginger wants fans to “experience as much fun as we had on set”. The actors agreed that they had a really good time filming even with the long hours and physical toll involved.

A uniquely talented cast

Steve marveled at the show’s unique and talented cast. He shared, “we really, fortunately enough, we care for each other as people”. He hopes that is evident in the finished product.

Steve spoke of Ginger always bringing humor and lightheartedness to the production. In contrast, he noted how visibly emotional she was in a particular scene saying, “And then she comes in full tears . . .” Of course, he was surprised when she told him how easily she is able to show that level of emotion. Ginger explained, “I have this thing, I read people call it ‘broken tear ducts’. But I can feel the scene very quickly. If it’s written in a way that feels real to me, I can’t help it.”

Hear more directly from the actors in the clip below.

Thank you, Ginger and Steve, for taking time to talk to So Many Shows!

SCAD TVfest offered a great opportunity to learn more about True Lies, which premieres on March 1st. Attendees enjoyed a screening of the pilot followed by a panel Q&A with Matt and actors Steve Howey, Ginger Gonzaga, Erica Hernandez and Mike O’Gorman. It was a lively discussion with great camaraderie among the cast members.

You can watch True Lies on CBS Television Network and the CBS app or stream on Paramount+.
