The Punisher Season 2 – Episodes 7 and 8
Frank is a complicated man with very complicated problems. In Episode 7 rightfully titled One Bad Day and Episode 8 titled My Brother’s Keeper it gets even more complicated.
He isn’t the only one. We see Billy finally figure out his dreams, Madani is on the verge of her own breakdown and Curtis just wants his damn life back.
Frank Castle
Back at it
The fighting continues between Madani and Frank, over how to take care of Billy.
We even see a little smile from Curtis who like us is just watching the scene unfold. I think he might ship them as much as I do.
But all in all, it’s decided, with a not too happy Madani and truth to be told Frank. That it’s up to Frank to kill Billy and that’s what’s going happen.
Off to Jakes apartment
Frank and Curtis take a trip to Jakes apartment. Curtis had mentioned that he knew someone who might know where Billy was.
There’s a little moment between them where Curtis tells him to go in first. And Franks like “so that’s how it is” I love the brotherly connection between these two.
Sadly they find nothing, accept that Jakes a tweaker.
A moment between brothers
Curtis and Frank stake out Jakes apartment. Waiting for him to come back.
As they get to talking about their old days of staking out in the army we learn something about Frank.
He hates just sitting around. Or as Curtis says “you’re the most impatient asshole I know” and that he has a concentration problem.
But Frank has the best rebuttal “I have a bored out of my ass problem”. I love all the back talk of Frank this season.
and that he hates not keeping moving. Which gets them into an argument where Curtis tells him he needs to find someone to slow down with. That he needs to try again.
Which Frank tells him about Beth. And how she got shot. I’m glad she hasn’t made a reappearance. Wasn’t that impressed with her character. Plus he belongs with Madani.
At the end of the conversation Curtis mentions he knows where Jakes probably getting his meth.
Collecting Jake
Catching up with Jake the next day, Curtis keeps him occupied while Frank goes in behind him.
Once Curtis points him out to Jake. Jake turns towards Frank just to get punched in the face and thrown into the trunk.
Time to talk Jake
Tied up in his apartment, With Madani and Curtis watching, Frank interrogates Jake on Billy’s whereabouts. To which he just curses at him.
After a couple blows and still nothing. Frank cuts the ropes and has Jake come after him. It doesn’t go well for Jake as Frank smashes his face on a table and slams a knife through his hand. In which Madani tells him to stop.
Madani and Frank have a chat
Once again these two have it out. She tells him he’s gone to far and that them doing this is like them being just like Billy.
He tells her to go live in fantasy land. I’m no love guru or body language specialist but in my opinion, even as they said these things, They both didn’t like hurting the other, And Madani not leaving spoke volumes
Mending Jake
Meanwhile Curtis is mending Jakes hand telling him about their history with Billy and that the only person worse than Billy is Frank.
Frank comes in for round 2
After a quick look between Frank and Madani, Frank picks up the knife and asks Jake where he should put it next.
And low and behold that’s when Jake breaks and tells them about their plan to rob a cash checking place. And that they where staying in a warehouse.
Time to go after Billy
Frank (whose carrying Jakes jacket) and Curtis get into their car while Madani tells them to let Mahone take care of it.
He just slams the car door shut. And with one last look at her they drive off.
At the warehouse
Frank and Curtis sneak into the warehouse just In time to see them drive off.
Off to get Billy
Driving Frank close to where Billy is, Curtis starts getting out of the car.
And in a not so nice but affective way he gets him to stay in the car. And people think Frank doesn’t care.
Further proof he cares, Frank tells him if anything happens to take care of the kid and bring her to Madani.
And with that he’s gone.
Catching up with an old friend
Dressed like Jake would’ve been Frank goes up to Billy as he exits the shop. And once he has his attention takes off the mask and jacket. Revealing his identity and the vest.
And as his fellow gang members shoot at Frank, Billy just stands there staring. Even taking off his mask.
Until one of his buddies yank him into one of their vans and takes off.
Shooting the nearest gang member through his windshield, Frank pulls him out and goes after the van as a sniper shoots at him.
A good ole fashion showdown
After getting through the sniper (who Curtis knocks out) shots alive. Frank runs into Billy and a machine gun. (Billy had told the driver to stop)
Which makes him crash the car and starts a gunfight with Billy who asks him if he did this to him.
And Frank tells him he did. Just not in such nice words.
Up on the roof
Above Frank and Billy, Curtis aims at Billy but is unable to take the shot
The cops show up
As the cops start a shooting war with Billy and his buddies, Frank makes his escape, But not without being noticed by Mahone.
On the run
Running through the streets of New York, Frank dodges the crowds of people as he runs from Mahone.
The time for running is over
Stuck in an alleyway Frank has no where to go, and complies with Mahone. Kicking over his gun and getting to his knees.
Mahones about to cuff him when a gunshot rings out. And there stands Curtis with an Ar-10. Telling him to let Frank go.
While Curtis has his attention, Frank gets up and un arms Mahone. Tells him he’s after the wrong guy and knocks him out. And him and Curtis make their exit.
A heart to heart
Another brotherly moment between Curtis and Frank. To be honest I could’ve gone for more of these.
But back to the show. After having a laugh about Frank having a lot of black one legged friends and Curtis being the only one for him but like always it turns serious.
Frank tells Curtis about how hurt Billy looked when he saw him draw on him. And that he could see he had no idea what he’d done.
He also mentioned how when he looked at Billy he saw Maria and the kids. Because they were family and that Billy saw it too.
He also told him he had a chance to take the shot but hesitated to long.
Curtis also makes sure to tell Frank that people care about him after Frank mentions him supposed to stay in the car.
A moment broken up
Though I could’ve gone for another hour of them talking, the police radio goes off talking about dead bodies at a warehouse.
Back at the warehouse
Climbing his way into the rafters of the warehouse, Frank watches as Mahone and the other cops tag the body of one of the fake “hostages”
Which it seems Mahone knew was a fake but Frank obviously wasn’t listening to well since when he got back to Curtis’s car he said the hostage was killed.
Tension
The moment of piece between brothers is at a standstill. As Curtis tries to figure out why they just don’t let the police do their job.
Especially since things aren’t going well with his fiancé.
Frank is obviously upset he put Curtis in this situation but still just says they have to get off the road.
