The Punisher Season 2 – Episodes 9 and 10
Pain, love and loss. That’s what Episode 9: Flustercluck and Episode 10: The Dark Parts of Men explore. We also see Amy come into her own.
Frank Castle
Back to the trailer
Coming back from the graveyard, Frank sees Madani sleeping inside through the window. After swearing he enters.
Entering the trailer the first thing he hears is Amy telling him Madani is there to arrest him.
After taking the gun Amy has pointed at Madani, he sits down and drinks.
As he does Curtis asks him where he’s been.
Frank just casually mentions he was at the graveyard talking to his wife. And through their conversation he learned, that he was always different. And Maria knew it but didn’t care.
After a back and forth with Madani, he asks them all just to accept him for who he is. Which I think is a powerful message, especially since that’s what any of us want
At the Warehouse
With the help of Amy and Curtis, Frank finds out where Billy and his friends are.
When he gets there he gets into a gun fight. And as we all know who won, the only way he could find any information was looking at one of their cell phones, he then used their thumb to open.
Gathering intelligence
Entering a bar he talks to a waitress, that he saw a picture of on the guys phone he took.
After she denies, he uses the cut off thumb to open the phone.
Realizing she really had no choice and voicing that they were all assholes anyway, She said that she went there with her boss, and said it was somewhere in Queens and it was called Valhalla.
Being followed
After dropping the guys thumb in the bosses drink, Frank leaves and is immediately followed by six goons.
They then tell him about the bounty money on him and Amy. And with that he shoots all of them. One is still alive but has to answer to Frank.
No one’s home
Going back to the trailer, he finds it empty of Curtis and Amy. After calling Curtis he finding out she’s not with him, unfairly blaming him for her leaving.
He calls Amy and tells her about the bounty. And tells her to come home. I like how he uses the word home. I think he really sees her as family.
Finding Amy
Getting to the apartment building her former friend lived in, Frank goes up the stairs dropping bodies as he goes.
The guy tells him if he comes any closer she’s dead. So Amy does as she’s taught disarms him and shoots him.
When Frank gets up the stairs she’s shaking, And saying she killed him. But he tells her she just shot him, he killed him. And turns and shoots the guy.
I love all this fatherly attention he’s giving Amy. It’s good for her and is also showing this side of Frank we’ve only seen in memories.
Giving her time to breathe, they go get her stuff, which ends with Amy kicking her friend in the groin before leaving.
Back home
As their walking back to their trailer, Amy mentions she could never shoot someone again.
He acts like he doesn’t care anyway about it, just mentions that she did it when she had to and that’s what matters.
I think he was glad to hear she didn’t like it. Because he doesn’t want her to be like him. And he kind of said that.
He Told her he was going get her a better life when it was all over, and that he wouldn’t die.
And a cute moment follows again as once again Amy won’t swear and says it’s all a “flustercluck” which makes Frank laugh.
And when she goes inside and he sits down, he says “yes it is kid, yes it is”
I love these moments between them, because I think it’s helping both of them move on.
Memories
We get to see another glimpse into Billy and Franks past. This time their being initiated into the navy via a Gauntlet.
Where it would seem you get beat up by the others. First Billy went then Frank. At the end of Franks beating, Russo helps him up and than punches him in the gut.
But it ends with them hugging and me hoping kissing, but alas those dreams were crushed.
On a stakeout
Back in the present Frank is surveying the warehouse with Curtis.
And once again a moment between them. As Curtis tries to get Frank to realize he’s not like Billy and he never was.
Frank also wonders if he could’ve helped Billy like Curtis always helped him, even though he never asked for it.
Frank also joked about Curtis not getting any ideas about turning them in for the cash, to replace his car.
I love these brotherly moments. I love how close these two are.
Billy can also be seen watching them from the distance on a nearby roof, ready to shoot them but decides against it.
During the day Frank spots a back entrance in, and brings Curtis food.
In which he hears him telling his fiancé Linda that he is sick.
And later makes a joke, that not everyone has a Frank Castle and just pays their premiums.
After a little more banter they talk about how many men Billy has in there and how they’re ready to go in.
