The Bone Collector: Episodes 5 & 6
There are many sides to Lincoln Rhyme. One we don’t see often is him caring or sympathetic. In episodes five and six, we finally get to see that side.
Episode Five: Game On
In episode five titled “Game On,” The Bone Collector is back, and he is directly going after Lincoln.
Changing The Rules
He is changing the rules, and Lincoln isn’t taking it healthily. He is leaving clues directly from Lincoln’s book, along with the book itself. Amelia thinks he is changing the rules, but Lincoln refuses to believe so.
Health Scare
During a heated argument with Amelia, Lincoln causes himself to have a deadly health situation due to his paralysis. Claire tells Amelia that even something as small as a bug bite could kill him because it causes the brain to receive signals it normally doesn’t, sending the body into chaos. I didn’t understand the whole science behind it, but that is a horrible thing to have to deal with. Luckily, he recovers, and he is and to help out his team.
A Lesson Learned
But, he learns something when his old partner, Michael, tells him that three years ago, he didn’t listen to his gut feeling but to listen to Amelia’s now.
And, he does.
Listening to Amelia, they are able to save the last victim. Amelia finds herself in the same situation Lincoln was three years ago, but it worked out for them this time.
A Pissed Off Bone Collector
The Bone Collector gets pissed when they don’t mention his name in a nightly broadcast. He becomes unhinged by them, not mentioning his work.
Even though he sends pictures to the nightly news and gets his name out there again, Lincoln goes on air, saying they’re changing their own game plan, and they will find him, which makes him even angrier.
Episode Six: ‘Till Death Do Us Part
We really get to see Lincoln’s caring side in this episode.
When a friend’s wife is found murdered and is blamed for it, Lincoln takes the case. He doesn’t believe his friend did it. They did a great job of throwing even us in the audience off. I was pretty sure they were going to drop the bomb on him, and it was his friend.
A Scary Situation
With the help of Felix, the super tech wiz, they find the real killer wasn’t the husband but a man who had witnessed his father kill his mother during an argument when he was a teenager. They also find that the real killer was using the home security systems to control the victim’s locks, and that’s how he got in and out of his victim’s homes.
After CSI: Cyber, the fear of a tech attack was always fresh on my mind. It was waining but guess what, it’s back.
Walking in the Dark
After the killer remotely turns off the lights at his latest victims’ home, Amelia was left blind and had to trust in Lincoln. Lincoln became her eyes and guided her to where the killer was hiding.
Seeing Lincoln in a New Light
Amelia learned that she could trust Lincoln and that he truly does care for his entire team, including her. I really do hope that they put him and Amelia together, though his ex seems to be trying to get him back.
The Bone Collector
Even though he wasn’t the focus, he did have a part in this episode. His wife found the pictures of his victims he had hidden in the walls. Now she didn’t know that he was the killer and thought it belonged to someone else who owned the home until…
She found the picture of her missing friend he took when he killed her. Now, she could’ve screamed or ran, but she follows him to the basement as the episode ends. Either his wife is interested in what he is doing, or she was too frightened to do anything. Hopefully, it is the second one.
