The Blacklist Season 6 Premiere! (Watch out, Red!)

Take a moment to share:

First Look: The Blacklist Season 6

Here we go! Our favorite imposter, Raymond Reddington, returns tonight on The Blacklist season 6 premiere! Granted, it’s only the first half of a two part premiere – at least we only have to wait 24 hours to see the second half.

Details…

Network: NBC

Watch Part 1: Episode 601 “Dr. Hans Koehler” tonight (Thursday January 3rd) at 10/9c

Watch Part 2: Episode 602 “The Corsican” tomorrow (Friday January 4th) at 9/8c

What To Expect…

It’s Liz VS Red or is it Red VS Liz?

Keen now has a few secrets of her own – and assuming what we know is really all there is to know – Reddington has no idea that she is aware that he’s not the original/legitimate Red.

The dynamic between the two has always been a bit strained, but we’ll see this heightened in the first two episodes of season 6.  It’s no longer an “us versus them” with the FBI and our wanted fugitives… It’s now the ultimate game of cat and mouse with Elizabeth and Raymond.

We’ve seen Liz go from weak and vulnerable to tough as nails – and it’s been a lot of back and forth in the first five seasons. Will the truth about Reddington set her free from her vulnerabilities? I think we’ll find out this season – as the premiere episodes give us a good glimpse of the new (and improved?) Agent Keen.

My Thoughts…

Will the show string us along for the entire season before everything really comes to a head? (Like that darn suitcase that took 21 episodes to FINALLY get some info?) This time around, I think we’ll get more answers (and more drama) a little sooner.

Blacklist 602

The season starts our pretty strong – giving fans a decent first look into how complicated the relationship has become. We still have our “bad guys” for the FBI to go after – and of course – Reddington is still never quite what he seems. Always playing games, always looking out for himself – it’s obvious he never changes.

Keen’s struggles and determination are easily felt through the premiere episodes. She’s now playing a lot of games of her own and I’m curious to see how long it takes before she starts making mistakes and her plans begin to falter.

I’ve been a fan of The Blacklist from the very beginning and Reddington is easily one of my most favorite TV characters… I was worried that we wouldn’t get a season 6 – especially seeing fans frustrated at how long it was taking to get answers. It’s here now and my fingers are crossed for the most amazing season yet…

Are these episodes the most explosive? Not quite, but they’re good and set the stage for what’s about to come.

Are they going to reel the ‘on-the-fence fans’ back in? I don’t think so.  BUT… these episodes set us up for something big in episodes 3 and 4 of season 6 – and if they come through like i’m hoping they will – even the long lost fans will be reinvigorated and clamor for more.

Wrap It Up…

It’s worth the watch – die hard fan or not. Don’t miss the 2 part season premiere starting tonight on NBC!

And let me know in the comments below if you’re excited for the return – and I need to know… Are you Team Reddington or Team Keen?
