SWAT Episode 19
#ThrowbackThursday
We see the events that took place which landed Street’s mother in prison. She was fed up with being a punching bag for his father. So, she came up with a plan and it worked. They were free of the tyrant.
18 years later…
Turns out she’s getting out on parole and needs a place to stay. Problem is Street has a lump on his couch called Luca. He needs to figure out that situation fast otherwise it’s back to prison life for mama bear.
SWAT Ninja’s
The team is shown undercover, taking out bodyguards left and right during an event. Seems like a PR event for a book written by a Russian journalist. Showing proof why they work so well as a team, each move is smooth and fast. Before the Russian journalist knows it, Hondo is in the elevator with her.
“It’s you” – Irina
So she seems to know Hondo. This will be interesting. I’m thinking this was a test run to show the journalist how crappy her security detail actually is.
Cue theme song sing-a-long! You know you do it too!
Damsel in denial
After everything the team just proved to Irina about her security, she still thinks she can protect herself. She has a problem with trusting people that work for the government, and cities apparently, since that’s who killed her husband.
Guess I was right!
As hondo always does, he understands and promises he will do everything to protect her with around-the-clock watch from the whole team. Irina insists on moving forward on a secret meeting with a contact that provides her with information. Hondo reluctantly agrees but Reina runs, causing a distraction with the fire alarm.
Even though she got the jump on the team, Hondo was prepared with the buildings cameras and spots her outside. Irina heads to the meeting spot and picks up what she needs. Waiting for her contact to reveal themselves, she spots a few guys looking to take her out.
Once again the team saves the day with Hondo taking out one guy and almost taking a bullet from the other saving Irina. They get one guy in custody but the other one gets away after he hijacks someones car.
Street’s breaking up with Luca
In other news, Street tells Luca he needs him out by the end of the week so his mom has a place to stay. Of course Hondo gets wind of it and tells Street he doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Seems like no one thinks it’s a good idea because Chris is giving him crap about it too.
I mean, come on Hondo. Yes, Street flew off the handle when he first joined SWAT over his mom but I think he’s a changed man now.
“We haven’t even finished our call of duty campaign, I mean are we just gonna leave it at 56% complete?” – Luca
Wanna play hardball? I’m game.
Turns out Irina’s source had information for her about Russian’s smuggling rifles into the US. She says Russia wants the US to kill each other they same way their people did back in the day. Once she tells all this information to Hondo, he looks like he’s up for a game of hide and seek the Russian.
The man they have in custody is ex-KGB and has a handler he meets at a Russian bathhouse. CIA wants Jess to send the team undercover to keep their investigation under wraps. If they can get information on the handler and other ex-KGB, they can link everything up and move in for the arrests.
More than one undercover mission in one episode? We have a treat today folks. Love the intensity and suspense of seeing how they pull it off. How do they do it every time?
Deacon is sent in to distract the handler in the steam room while Luca downloads the information from Pavel’s laptop. By the skin of his teeth, and Hondo’s slick moves, Luca is able to get the info and out of there before anyone can spot him on the cameras. Oh and Deacon makes it out too, in nothing but a towel.
The team got all the information on the shooters that are trying to kill Irina. They pinged one of the burner phones to an apartment building. Hondo thinks its best to split the team up and take some of Mumford’s guys to Irina’s event while Deacon and Luca hit up the apartment building.
Traitor? Hardly
Street feels responsible for keeping his mom locked up for 18 years. She told him what to say to the cops to keep them both out of trouble. Street couldn’t help but tell the truth, which ultimately lead to his moms arrest. Chris assures him that he did the right thing and it made him who is today.
Officer Down
Most of the team is at Irina’s event while the crowd surrounds her for pictures and autographs. The tension runs high while they try to get the crowd under control. Jess is up high watching the crowd for people the team can’t see on the ground.
She spots some guys heading out the door and sends Rocker and Tan after them. Deacon and Luca find a crazy concoction in the apartment they searched. Hondo realizes the shooter made poison gas. That’s not their biggest problem either, they don’t know how they plan on using it.
Hondo rushes Irina away and almost got her in the clear when someone asks for one last autograph. She insists he lets her sign and walks towards the man who requested it. Luca and Deacon find out that the poison is in pens.
Sneaky.
Just as Irina goes to take the pen from the man, Chris jumps in front of her taking the hit of poison to the face. Hondo jumps to her side and gives out the call, Officer down. The suspect runs and Hondo sends Street after him. Deacon and Luca rush out of the apartment building and floor it to the event to help save Chris.
Could this be the first episode where they lose a member and a suspect gets away? We shall find out.
Tan and Rocker track down the other two shooters. Well more like the ex-KGB psychos try to kill them. Fights break out in the kitchen and it seems like Rocker and Tan have met their match. Pots are flying, knives are grabbed, and towels are used to take down all three assassins.
These ex KGB guys are insane. Love these fight scenes. Was the barrel roll necessary?
Hondo carries Chris on his shoulders outside to meet Luca and Deacon halfway. On the way to the, Deacon preps the shot that could save her life. Everyone rushes outside to be by Chris’s side and keep her awake until Deacon gets there. She passes out right as Luca pulls up to the building. Deacon runs, stabs her in the chest with the needle….
Oh no, I can’t watch!
She’s alive! Deacon made it just in time and saved her life. Everyone takes a breath, including me, and they make a few jokes to lighten the mood. Closest they ever got to losing a team member.
Phew! That was intense!
Hondo waits with Irina for her source, about the rifle smuggling, to arrive for them to meet face to face. The team saves the day again putting four Russian assassins in prison, keeping Irina alive, and basically bringing Chris back to life from poison. Just another day at the office.
Man’s best friend
The team helps Street in finding Luca a place to live. They show him very lavish apartments and he has an issue with every single one of them. Everyone comes to the conclusion that the man just hates to live alone.
Understandable, but what are they going to do about it.
They end up putting a deposit down on one of the apartments, basically forcing him into it. They also got him some company.
No, it’s not a hooker. Get your mind out of the gutter.
Chris, having previously worked a K9 unit, called a friend and gave a retired police dog to Luca.
Street gets his couch, apartment, and mom back. Luca doesn’t have to live alone, the gang’s back together with Chris healthy and out of the hospital, and Hondo may have a future date with Irina.
