‘Stranger Things’: S4 teaser reveals familiar face

Take a moment to share:

Same but different. Look who appears in the Stranger Things season 4 teaser from Netflix.

Thank you Netflix for revealing a familiar face in the Stranger Things season 4 teaser. We are finally rewarded after months of speculation with a Hopper sighting.

Check out the clip here:

We hear music in the background and soldiers in costumes all reminiscent of the USSR.  A work detail of presumed prisoners is laboring in the snow. The camera zooms in on one particular prisoner who removes his cap. The man revealed is a much thinner and bald Jim Hopper!

Now before I get myself too excited, I will say we must consider the timeline. Is this indeed in the Stranger Things current day? I certainly hope so. I would hate to get all excited to learn that Hopper survived the lab explosion only to learn that he did not ever make it back to El, Joyce and the rest of his Hawkins family.

Of course, I am hoping for the best case scenario. The Duffer Brothers won’t let us down, right?

So, how did Hopper escape death at the conclusion of season 3? Several theories have been floating around. Did Hopper find cover from the explosion? Did he enter the Upside Down? The second idea now does not seem as likely, but there’s no way to tell how Stranger Things will explain his escape.

It’s too soon to speculate on when season 4 will drop as it is still in the early stages of production. Can we say with certainty that Hopper is “the American” referred to in the post-credits scene of the season 3 finale? I’m leaning towards yes, but “stranger things” have happened (wink!).

While we are in full speculation mode, where do we think the Byers family and El landed after moving away from Hawkins, Indiana? That’s such a compelling aspect of Stranger Things – there are so many questions!

You can revisit Stranger Things season 3 with our episodic “reconnaissance” posts starting here with season 3 episode 1.

Please share your thoughts on the S4 teaser in the comments section!
