Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and the Writers Guild Foundation (WGF) are collaborating on a rare opportunity April 19 at the SCAD campus in Midtown Atlanta. A brand-new offering in SCADFILM’s new series of one-day spotlight events about TV, SCAD TVfest: Screenwriting will celebrate the writers’ room where all your favorites start on the page.

Programming will include a WGF library pop-up open to students and the public. Written materials from Friends, Star Trek, Golden Girls, The Sopranos. Black-ish and more will be on display. This will be the WGF’s inaugural display of these industry materials on the East Coast making this a rare opportunity for budding writers and TV aficionados. While we are all about TV shows at So Many Shows, the pop-up will also display a selection of signed Oscar-winning and nominated movie scripts.

Samples of television work that will be on hand include:

  • Pitches from Emmy Award-winning series Friends and Grey’s Anatomy
  • Show Bibles from Golden Girls, Game of Thrones, King of the Hill, and Star Trek
  • Episode outlines from Bob’s Burgers, Black-ish, Friday Night Lights, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga
  • Writers’ room documents from The Sopranos and The West Wing
  • Classic pilots like Cheers, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Office, and Abbott Elementary

Programming

The event also includes a workshop with WGF librarian, Lauren O’Connor, who will explore television history and script formatting. Lauren will cover variations in script formatting and specifications that are unique to the many different styles of television now offered. Learn about differentiating factors based on single versus multi-camera, drama versus comedy, serialized versus limited series and more.

A presentation with Briana Belser, screenwriter (Grey’s Anatomy, Ginny & Georgia) called Business and Marketing for Screenwriting will also be on the event schedule.

Additional events to be announced.
