“Save My Show” The Revival Votes Are In!

Take a moment to share:

# 4 – Scorpion (CBS)

Save My Show
Scorpion on CBS

With 38,070 confirmed votes, Scorpion takes our number four spot. This is actually “extra” impressive, because after the first 24 hours of voting, they were actually in the number nine spot in voting! I reached out to some of the top fans (Kimberly and Kelli) working hard in their renewal efforts for the show and asked a few questions to find out what drives them.

There’s “so many shows” on TV now, what makes Scorpion unique?

Kimberly: The heart of the show is not the casework, it’s not main ships, and it’s not the high intelligence featured in the show. The heart is the familial relationships between each member of the entire team. Scorpion shows not only that it’s okay to be different, but also shows that family is not limited to blood relatives. No matter what happens between Walter, Cabe, Paige, Ralph, Toby, Happy, Sylvester, Callie and Florence, underneath all of the drama and the dilemmas they face, they are all bonded, and we, as fans, feel that bond between them.

Scorpion may be unorthodox and not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think unorthodox, amidst the other shows and what’s happening in the news, is exactly what we need on TV right now.

You started a renewal effort to get Scorpion renewed, what’s motivated you to push this renewal campaign?

Kelli: Prior to the cancellation announcement we were all pushing for a Season 5. In order to direct traffic/messages to CBS I came up “93 Reasons Why Scorpion Should be renewed” (Between Seasons 1-4, 93 episodes of Scorpion aired.http://www.scorpionhq.com/renew/#93ReasonsWhy) Fans started submitting  their reasons right away on why Scorpion should continue. In every tweet we used the hashtag #ScorpionSeason5 and tagged CBS’s social media accounts.

I made a video (https://twitter.com/scorpion_hq/status/991814370752712705?s=21) encouraging fans to keep contacting CBS and with it a letter writing contest (for digital copies of Scorpion) encouraging fans to submit a message directly to CBS.

When the cancellation announcement happened it took me a moment to process it as the show meant a lot to me. For the past few years I’ve been running Scorpion HQ – I made it out of love –  love for the show, cast and crew.

I don’t think anyone thought it could go this way. I hoped for the best & didn’t prepare for the worse. When the news broke, we all came together as a team, a cyclone and started preparations. A big thanks to everyone who jumped right in and a shout out to @SaveScorpion, @WF001Scorpion who have been a big help & @summerozxx who created the petition for Scorpion to be renewed: Save Scorpion Petition

# 3 – Deception (ABC)

Deception on ABC

A show that I didn’t expect to do as well as it did, Deception comes in third place with 41,611 votes! They were in a super tight race with Scorpion, but pulled out all the stops to land at number three! I spoke with the person behind the @Save_Deception twitter account about the renewal efforts:

You’re part of a growing effort to get Deception renewed… What’s motivated you to push this renewal campaign?

Well, the cancellation of Deception came as a bit of a shock, as anyone who watched the show agrees that it should have been renewed. It came just after Fox cancelled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was saved by NBC after a fan campaign. Me and a lot of other fans realised “Hey, if Brooklyn Nine-Nine” got saved by a fan campaign, maybe we could do the same with Deception. As Cameron Black always says, “Nothing’s impossible.”

Why should ABC reconsider their decision or why should another network consider picking up Deception?

Quite simply because it was a premature decision.
Deception barely got a chance. It’s hard to judge the long-term success of a show off of just 9 episodes.
There are still so many subplots they can explore, like how Cameron met the Deception squad, what the mystery woman’s objective is, the relationship between Kay and Cam, whether Johnny gets out of prison… I could keep going if you want.

Basically, the show still has a LOT of potential. The cast is excellent, the plot is on point, and the writing is pretty good too. Move it to a better timeslot and the ratings will soar.

There’s “so many shows” on TV now, what makes Deception unique?

Quite simply because it’s different. Can you name one other show that combines magic and crime so well? Yes, there are so many shows on TV. Very few are as good as Deception. Deception can entertain everyone, from kids who enjoy the tricks (which, incidentally, are real and not VFX) to the people who enjoy watching police procedurals, and everyone in between. It’s fun, humorous and entertaining for the whole family. Don’t believe me? Just watch the pilot episode!

You must not have seen our Tweets with the video of false votes. Lucifer had almost 27,000 invalid votes cast by software that not only voted way too many times per minute, but stopped others from being able to vote as well.
