Which Cancelled TV Show Should Be Revived?

Cancelled TV Show
Take a moment to share:

So Many Cancelled TV Shows…

We could almost change the name of our website after the last week. If you haven’t heard, we’ve dubbed it “TV Devastation Week” – with SO MANY SHOWS being cancelled that perhaps don’t deserve it. We’ve seen quite a few hashtags floating around social media: #SaveLucifer #SaveTheExpanse #SaveTheExorist #RedeployTheBrave #SaveTimeless (Even though that one hasn’t been cancelled – yet?) and so many more.

By now everyone saw Brooklyn Nine-Nine get the axe – only to see it’s resurrection not long after by NBC. It doesn’t happen often, but we do sometimes see networks “step in” and gobble up a cancelled show – and like Timeless last year – sometimes a network has a change of heart.

What can you do?

Get loud. It’s the only way a network may see enough fan support to even consider “saving” a show. We’re throwing out two ways to let your voices be heard.  The first: The poll below. We’ve listed a bunch of the “top” TV shows that were cancelled recently. Vote soon and have friends/family vote often. We’ll leave the vote up for a while, but in about 3 or 4 days we’ll start to notify the networks about the top 2 or 3 shows voted by fans. The second: Comment below WHY you voted the way you voted. What makes your show amazing and worth a second chance? (Recommendation: Don’t “bash” another show in favor of yours – that wouldn’t look very good.)

UPDATE May 16th: We’re going to end the poll sometime before Friday morning – Get your votes in now as to keep it fair, we’re not going to announce an “end time.” Good luck TV fans!

The Poll:

Vote here… You can vote on up to 3 shows maximum. (We know you have a lot of favorites, but sorry – 3 max!) Who will get to 50,000 votes first? 100,000? The winner of the poll will get a further write up with any and all renewal effort information included. We’ll also send the results directly to the networks that the respective “fandoms” are targeting.

**UPDATE May 20 7:30am**

We’re having to do a “manual recount” due to software used by a few people. This software allowed for multiple votes per second while keeping the database so “busy” it wouldn’t allow other votes to be counted.

We’re about half way through confirming all the votes. We will hopefully get them all done today and have our results article up within the next 24 hours. We apologize for the delay, but it’s important to us that we get this right.

**UPDATE May 21 11:09am**

All votes have been counted and confirmed. You can see the results by clicking here!

Comments – Scream it LOUD!

Leave them below. Name your show, show off your hashtag, let the world hear why your favorite show deserves more! Share petitions, renewal links, whatever you want to use to help your cause! Good luck TV fans!

The Brave is an amazing show with dedicated fan base willing to fight for it to be renewed. This show showcases our military in an accurate, respectful, and positive light and the writing is fantastic. 4 million viewers can’t be wrong–the fans can’t be wrong–this show matters to SO many. We also have two dedicated hashtags on Twitter of #TheBrave and #RedeployTheBrave to show why this show means so much to the fans.

NBC’s decision to cancel The Brave is ridiculous. If it doesn’t have the audience you want, give it time. You can’t deny this show is one of THE BEST written and acted out in a long time.

The Brave is by far one of the best TV shows to have been created in recent years. The stories, the writing, the issues that deal with our current political and social climate, the characters and actors… It is just a really phenomenal and exceptional show and keeps the audience engaged for the entire episode. It really is TV gold, and I do hope networks see that because us fans sure do!

Lucifer really has to be saved!! It’s the first show I really love. There hasn’t been anything this good in years! The cast, the plot, the wit, the writers – especially. The show was underrated from the beginning and it isn’t mainstream, which is probably the problem.

    Deception should be saved.

It’s a great show that is different from the usual police/FBI procedurals that are so prolific on TV. It has violence, sex, murder and death but it’s never gratuitous and it has an interesting overall story arc, as well as the ‘case-of-the-week’ format. The use of magic (or deception) to help catch the criminals is a nice touch and it’s never that the use of magic *solves* the crime, only that it helps trap the criminal etc.

The show was never given enough advertising or even the right amount of advertising, as many people I’ve spoken to who saw the advertising didn’t know what the show was about but were interested once they understood. It doesn’t help that the time slot it’s shown on a Sunday at 10.00 pm is not the right slot for a show like this.

Deception needs to be renewed. It’s an amazing show with an awesome (and diverse) cast, and ABC hardly gave it a chance – it was hardly advertised, ABC stuck it in a weird time slot, and then they cancelled it after only 9 of its 13 total episodes. It’s a wonderful and funny show that means a lot to a lot of people, and it deserves an actual chance.

    Lucifer deserves to be saved.
I honestly believe that there is nothing else like it on TV. A large number of TV shows, while perhaps very good, are unoriginal. They are remakes or can be fit into the same narrow categories. Categories like “Medical Drama” or “Police Procedural” are everywhere. Lucifer does not fit into just one of these categories. Lucifer is too lighthearted to be strictly a police drama and too heartfelt and deep to be strictly a drama. It has fantasy elements, but at its heart it is a story about people, relatable people. However, the thing that makes it something worth saving is that its heartfelt writing and devoted, phenomenally talented cast tie all of these different elements together in a way that is uniquely Lucifer.

I think Deception is a great show and definitely worthy of another season. I like that it’s based on twins (hardly any shows based on that concept) and that there is some magic involved. It’s something the whole family can watch but still has enough adult themes to interest those who don’t have teenagers etc. There’s murder, theft, general violence but much less traumatic than a Chicago or Law & Order franchises and different enough from the CSI style shows.

The main problem has been the lack of advertising focus and the rather bizarre timeslot that was chosen for Deception. It’s a show that I look forward to every week but often am unable to watch it live due to the lateness of the hour on a Sunday.

Reasons to save The Brave although there are many, I’m just going to leave a few. I don’ t remember the last time I watched a show that drew me in week after week for the full length of the show. Not only was I drawn in I was inspired to do more with my life. The show has also inspired many of the other opportunities that could be a right fit for them. The Brave is a new authentic TV show that deserves to be taken further. It was just much more than “just a military show” The Brave has heart, family, inspiration, integrity, and grit.

The Brave brought something different to tv, something special. The show isn’t caught up on relationships or stereotypes. The show is about family and working together as a team to get the job done. Race, gender, and age its about who has worked the hardest to get where they are and best fit for the job. About having each other’s backs no matter the risk involved. That when the stakes are high you make plans for plans. Not only are these connections made on screen, they were made off screen. Any fan knows just how tightly this cast became this made the show that much better. The cast also dedicated so much time to training to make sure they filled the roll they were playing. I want this more the cast and crew than for me as a fan. No words can describe how special The Brave is and why it needs to be on TV for years to come.

I love Deception! I think it’s definitely one of the better shows on TV at the moment.

It’s good fun and has some great one-liners and I like that the show has started spending a little more time on Jonathan’s story in prison rather than focusing on the case-of-the-week only. It also has some slightly darker elements but the overall tone is optimistic due to the ‘main’ character Cameron being very upbeat mostly. There’s also some surprisingly poignant moments where we get to see more depth from some of the backing characters.

It’s a show that can be watched as a family or without.

Hands down the best tv show ever, it’s a good mix of comedy, drama, and thrill of which no writers can touch. It also appeals to those who like mixing religion into everyday life being that it references the bible. This is a great show with a lot of layers and a brilliant cast. I look forward every week to watching it and winding down with it as I spend most days on the fire line working 12-16 hour days. Please bring it back it needs to be saved.

Lucifer 100%! This show is the best! It taught me to be me no matter how devilish it might be lol I connect to him on a personal level with the parent situation and even though I can’t make them proud of me I should just be proud of myself. It totally gave me another look at the devil that he is a good guy just misunderstood. #SaveLucifer 😈♥️

I think Deception deserves to be saved, as it’s a great show that doesn’t rely on sex and violence to sell itself, unlike some of the other police/FBI franchises out there. It still has moments where it’s violent but it’s always in a ‘believable’ context (such as the prison scenes for example) and is only a small part of the show, instead relying on the characters and plot to drive the story.

There is an interesting series overall story arc, as well as week-by-week cases to be solved. My favourite scenes are the ones with Jonathan and Cameron together, as the lead actor manages to make them seem the same but different and it’s nice to see the contrast. As another commentator noted, it’s been great to have more of the ‘Jonathan’ scenes in the prison as the season has progressed, showing how inventive and clever he is whilst also walking a tightrope of trying to avoid being targeted by the guards or other prisoners.

It’s also nice to have a show where multiple characters are talented rather than one that stands head and shoulders above the others; the ‘Deception Team’ all have talents that come together to give a ‘performance’.

Deception definitely deserves to have at least another season.

“Lucifer” is a different kind of journey. It’s a journey of self-discovery. Each of us can ask: what is my true purpose? Am I who people think I am, who I think I am, or am I just on my way to finding that out? We are all capable of atrocities, we see them in the news every day. We’re all also capable of compassion, though we see sadly less of this in the news. Lucifer? He’s that lost little boy who doesn’t know how or where to fit in. He knows how to have fun and he’s proven capable of great kindness: scholarship money, grieving for a murdered friend (who was a priest!). He isn’t just one or just the other. Neither are we. The various character interactions add chemistry and the wit is refreshing (c’mon, it’s pretty funny!). Ultimately, without actually preaching, the show drives home three points that would make us all better people in our own lives: Tell the truth, take responsibility for your actions/choices/decisions and keep your promises. There’s a lot of merit to a show like Lucifer for those of us who pay more attention to the character than to the character’s name.

    @abcnetwork / @deceptionabc – Please save Deception!

I was a bit unsure about this series at first, thinking it was a cliched idea to have a ‘consultant’ working with the FBI but Deception is genuinely engaging and manages to pull it off, fully of witty comments and light-hearted moments. It’s balanced by the darker aspects of Jonathan being in prison where there has been threats to him and he’s getting in to scrapes, becoming a seemingly darker and possibly more ruthless character than he was previously, much to the unease of his twin Cameron.

I’m not a fan of the ‘romance’ aspect between Cameron and Kay (I mean, do we really need a romance between the ‘leads’ of a show again?) but I think the burgeoning relationship between Dina and Mike is very well done and feels a natural choice if we need to have a romantic angle on the show.

I think the show has gotten better each week – I hope we do get another season of Deception, either on ABC or through another network. The show is on at an awkward time but still has done quite well considering. More promotion and a move to a different time would definitely boost viewer numbers.
