How to Get Away with Murder – Stay Strong Mamma

November 7, 2017 by Tameche Brown Leave a Comment

Take a moment to share:

Trust is key to healing past transgressions and finding forgiveness. Annalise’s court mandated therapy sessions are intended to move her past her alcoholism and back into the court room. Will she find the solace she seeks or is she destined to fail?

Confidentiality

Confidentiality broken and ethical lines are crossed when Isaac treats “Julie” aka Bonnie Winterbottom.  She reveals during her session that she knows Annalise and her real name. She purposely sought out therapy with Isaac to hurt Annalise. He immediately connects Bonnie and Annalise’s sessions.  Isaac Roa’s (Jimmy Smits) confides in his therapist Jaqueline (Kathryn Erbe) for clarity on where he should draw the ethical line. Annalise has become a trigger for him. His own therapist reminds Isaac of his previous problems with depression and suicide. She directs him to find another client immediately. Reminding him he fought this battle already and it nearly destroyed his career and family.

Against Jacqueline’s advice he continues to treat Annalise with prior knowledge of her past. Using information he obtained from Bonnie’s sessions, Isaac asks Annalise to write a letter to focus on a painful memory that directly influences her life now. The motive behind this letter is revealing the loss of Annalise’s only child, her son. She shares the traumatic event of the head on collision that killed her son and nearly destroyed her life.  In one of the many twists of this episode – Jacqueline, Isaac’s therapist, is his ex-wife.  She decides to pay Annalise a visit to discuss a few things that she believes will help.

Antares File

Pregnant Laurel continues her hunt to take down her father for murdering Wes, her child’s father. (We think…) Michaela who is thriving in her internship with Caplan and Gold.  Receiving a pair of $1000 shoes from your boss doesn’t hurt either.  In true “Keating” fashion Michaela and Oliver (IT guru) agree to assist Laurel in finding evidence against her dad. They decide to hack into Tegan’s (Amirah Vann) computer to find proof which didn’t produce the smoking gun they’d wanted. A week after the failed hack attempt, Laurel’s father makes a surprise visit to Caplan and Gold, holding a closed door session with the partners.

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER – “Stay Strong, Mama” – “How to Get Away with Murder,” THURSDAY, NOV. 2 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

They now have their smoking gun. Antares will be going public, making Laurel’s father a very rich man. Her father found out that Wes was going to turn state’s witness on Annalise revealing every single crime she’d committed. Annalise’s subsequent conviction would force a review of ALL her cases.  This is bad business for the private Antares Company. The conviction would tank company stocks and bankrupt Laurels father. To destroy her father, Laurel wants to leak the files showing Antares criminal involvement before going public. This will scare investors and tank the stocks putting her father in the poor house.

With so much going on, Michaela is neglecting boyfriend Asher (Matt McGorry) who thinks she is cheating. He installs a camera via a Teddy Bear into Laurel’s apartment. He learns of the plot against Laurel’s dad and reveals this information to Michaela as he leaves her. I never thought Asher had the backbone to stand up to Michaela. Unfortunately, he knows too much and potentially could destroy any chance of avenging the death of Wes.

Class Action Lawsuit

Working to right a wrong, Annalise pushes forward with the class action lawsuit from Virginia Cross cases.  Sabotaged by Bonnie, Annalise gains an unlikely ally with Nate (Billy Brown). Momentarily he tries to help his former lover succeed with bringing these cases to trial.  Connor joins Annalise (I knew he couldn’t stay away) on this crusade and finds his law legs again.  No longer just a law school dropout he decides to put his skills to work.  Annalise goes public forcing the states attorney’s office to back off the claimants and readjust their strategy.  If the suit moves forward what will be Annalise’s end game?  Looking forward to finding out the next twist in this amazing drama series.

After watching this episode I’m left with three questions

1. Will Laurel stop her father
2. Is Jacqueline Roa’s going to reveal Isaac’s unethical behavior to Annalise
3. Will Asher reveal Michaela’s plans to destroy Laurels father
