Designated Survivor – Suckers

November 3, 2017 by Tameche Brown Leave a Comment

Suckergate
Take a moment to share:

When locker room talk becomes a trending headline: “Suckergate” – Privacy is never a guarantee or expected. President Kirkman learns quickly to only trust the person looking back at him in the mirror.

Suckergate

In a Bold move, Senator Alan Rouse (Christopher Cousins) misquotes President Kirkman and takes his words out of context. A locker room conversation on “Suckergate” is now trending in Washington.  Is nothing sacred anymore?  Wait – what am I saying – this is the White House, of course there are leaks.

After casually commenting the American people are suckers, the inner circle of the president immediately go on defense.  Efforts to squash his leaked conversation with Senator Rouse prove challenging until negative counterintelligence on the Senator is discovered. Refuted by the President, he addresses the public with honesty and admits to being a “sucker” himself.

Senator Rouse shares with the President his issues at home and divulges his extramarital affair and wife’s medical issues.  With so much going on in his personal life, he admits desperation pushed him to throw President Kirkman under the bus. He needed a victory in the midst of his problems.

The Great Escape

It’s good to know the President.  First Lady Kirkman heads to court with White House counsel Kendra Danes (Zoe McLellan) to defend her mother Eva Booker (Bonnie Bedelia) on Federal charges of bribing.  Strong willed, first lady Kirkman initially refuses to step down as co-counsel for her mother’s case.

Losing an initial motion, White House council Kendra has a heart-to-heart with First Lady Kirkman who decides to trust Kendra.  The FBI lost the motion to further investigate mother-in-law Eva.   A predictable storyline.  President Kirkman’s family is safe and no one is going to jail.

Gunned Down

Gunned down while jogging, Charlotte Thorn (Larissa Gomes) was a future prime minster, who frequently spoke out against arms dealers.  Originally, the evidence pointed towards Darius Cray (Paul Amos) who publicly fought with Ms. Thorn over her anti-arms views.  Further investigation implicated Catherine Cray (Michelle Nolden), Darius’s wife.  Still not 100% sure, FBI agents Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) and MI-6 agent Damien Rennett (Ben Lawson) investigate the Catherine Cray lead further.  Did Charlotte’s death have anything to do with Patrick Lloyd?  So many unanswered questions.

After watching this episode, I’m left with three questions:

  1. Why did Patrick Lloyd want Mother-in-law Eva Bookers bribe discovered
  2. Will FBI agents Hannah Wells and Damian Rennett fall for each other
  3. Who killed Charlotte Thorne
