Black Lightning Episode 10

How far will one go to protect their family? We see that Gambi will go pretty far in this episode.

Gambi and Jefferson

In the last episode after seeing the young boy in the lab, Gambi told Anissa about the lab and his past.

As he arrives back to his shop, he gets a visit from the people in the ASA. They tell him that if he doesn’t come within two minutes they would start shooting random people.

Gambi tried to call their bluff but his worry about others was too strong and he gave in.

After being tortured and not giving away any information they wanted on Black Lightning, they went and got Jefferson who was with a student at the time. When Jefferson got there he used his powers and Gambi managed to kill the agents holding him.

Jefferson took Gambi back to his place where he tells him to rest.

Jefferson takes his family to the house he grew up in to keep them safe. He tells them that the house isn’t under his name so no one should be able to find it.

I am hoping that this is the start of them mending their bond. They took Jefferson because he was like a son to Gambi. I just want to see them close again.

I wouldn’t be able to do what Jefferson did by moving his family back into the house he witnessed his fathers murder in… I know he did it for their safety, but psychologically it has be killing him.

Anissa and Jennifer

In the last episode, Anissa had talked to Gambi, who told her about his dark past and tells her about finding the missing kids from thirty years ago and where to find them.

Anissa, being the go-getter that she is, decides to check out his lead even though he told her to tell her dad. After finding the kids in pods, and realizing if she released them she could hurt them, she goes and tells her dad who thinks Gambi sent her, but she explains the situation and they go check it out. When they arrive, the pods are gone and they are attacked. They escape and start planing on how to find the kids.

After trying to talk Jennifer into accepting her powers, she ends up yelling at Jennifer, telling her that she always runs away and she was doing it again from her powers. Jennifer gets angry and starts to flair up. She accidentally burns the couch. Yikes!

After some tests by Lynn, Lynn sees that Jennifer’s body is producing the energy inside of her. As she describes the situation, Jeff pulls in the energy while Jennifer is actually a conductor of energy.

LaLa

LaLa is back and has a new spirit following him around. After learning that the distributor of GreenLight has no more stock he turns back to the normal street drugs to sell. We also learned that Tobias has left town and LaLa has taken over the business in a way.

Though this whole “he’s paying for his sins” thing is neat, I feel LaLa isn’t a very useful character and takes up time from characters that do more for the story itself.

And a shocking twist

Gambi tells Jefferson that if he finds “the spotter” he can find the missing kids. As the episode ends we see Martin Procter walking along the pods with the spotter who, when the camera shows her, ends up being Kara, the vice principal at the school.

Will Jennifer come to terms with her powers? What happens when Jefferson gets taken in to the ASA? Will Anissa’s girlfriend ever come back into the picture? As the season winds down over the next few weeks hopefully all of these questions and more will be answered.

Black Lightning airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
