Uncle Joe
Lauren and Maggie go to visit Uncle Joe to see his “masterpiece.” Maggie suggests he send such an important work of art to a gallery as a performance art piece to watch it melt. As Maggie distracts him, Lauren drops her panties and straddles the toilet to take a pic. AND she gets her lady bits stuck! Seriously Lauren?! Maggie pours hot coffee on Laurent to free her. I’m sure the plan was to ruin the statue, but I’m not sure the plan was to injure the V.
Why Her?
Liza meets Kelsey to question why she’s working with Quinn when she was nothing but trouble for Millennial. Kelsey defends Quinn because she the one who believed in her and made her publisher. Kelsey is interested because it’s a step up, it’s ownership, and she wants something that’s hers. Liza promises to be on her side no matter what.
Time Standing Still
Josh is going over the tattoo designs he can offer in his pop up. Shelly is so excited about this, “you are going to be on every girl in manhattan. I am that market, and we all want a piece of you”. She suggests sticking to simpler designs to get the clients done in one sitting, asking if he can do emojis. UM NO SHELLY, He can’t! Shelly picks out the time standing still tattoo that Josh gave Liza and wants it to be part of the collection. Josh explains it was a one-time piece, and he doesn’t exactly own it anymore. Shelly asks him to ask the girl he gave it too.
Here Comes The Bride
Yay! The wedding is finally here. Liza meets Diana out at the car to help her in the church. Diana is absolutely stunning! Everything about her wedding look is perfect. She’s wearing the most epic “Diana” necklace this show has ever seen and I love it! Liza and Diana share a heartfelt moment before she walks in and of course Diana says, “If you make my eyes turn red, I’ll kill you.”
You Are Family
As Charles walks into the church, Liza urges him to sit with Kelsey. Charles immediately makes his plea to Kelsey. He wants her to come back home to Millennial. He can match whatever Quinn has offered. Kelsey maintains she wants something that is hers. Charles says Millennial is hers; he’ll give her enough of his shares to earn her a seat on the board, a stake in the company. Charles says he knew she was family the day she sacrificed everything she wanted to save the company.
As the wedding starts, Zane sits next to Kelsey. She grabs his hand and whispers to him that she’s reaching out. Also, Josh shows up at the last minute to be Lauren’s plus one.
At the reception, Liza and Josh bump into each other at the bar. Josh explains he is Lauren’s plus one because he needed to see Liza again; he doesn’t like how they left things. They make small talk and Josh tells Liza they want to license the tattoo he gave her and he asks if that’s ok. Liza explains the tattoo is theirs and she wouldn’t want anyone else to have it. It seems this was the answer Josh wanted to hear.
Cliffhanger
Charles walks up as Josh leaves. Charles has asked the band to play “Take your breath away” because it’s their song. As they dance, Charles suggests a trip to Scotland with the kids might not be the right thing. He says, “Kids don’t belong on a honeymoon.” UH, WHAT! Liza is stunned as Charles explains he has fallen deeper and deeper in love with her over the last few months. He adds more incredibly romantic expressions and says, “Liza Miller, will you marry me?” As liza hesitates to answer, Kelsey runs up to them, saying, “I DO, I DO, I want to come home.” The band begins to play “We are family,” and everyone starts to dance around them, separating them into the crowd!
Final Thoughts
I love a good cliffhanger. Like how Greys Anatomy used to do it back in the day. What will Liza do? I honestly think she’ll go with her heart. She may choose herself and not choose Josh, but I don’t think she with end up with Charles in the end. The writers have done a great job of making Josh and Charles equally appealing, yet equally different, matches for Liza; thus fueling the conflict we feel in Liza and for Liza. We spent most of season 6 watching Liza questions her decision to be with Charles; mostly shown in her facial expressions. Subtle but noticeable tension coming from her face as she seemingly tries to make Charles a fit for her heart.
Charles
I feel torn about Charles this season. I’ve always loved his character, but I think we saw a few things out of him that were out of character. I didn’t enjoy seeing him outside of the Millennial family. It was hard to watch him forming Mercury with Zane. I think Charles truely loves Liza and is trying to lock her in because he’s waited so long for his shot. This proposal seemed spontaneous. Do you think he’s trying to ensure Liza doesn’t slip away or is he really ready to marry her?
Kelsey
This season focused a lot on Kelsey’s ups and downs. Kelsey has always been a strong voice in her world and I love that about her. I love how she believes in herself, doubts herself, stands up for herself, and feels broken too. I wonder if most women can relate to Kelsey in this way, I know I do.
Diana
I loved seeing Diana and Enzo come together this season; they are just too cute. Also, the deepening friendship between Diana and Liza was also great to watch. Plus, I will never tire of Diana’s sarcastic one-liners to Liza. She’s one of my favorite characters in the show.
Josh
I am happy to see Josh has worked out an amicable situation with Claire. He’s so in love with this sweet baby Gemma and it’s great to see him grow up a little and do the hard things to care for his baby. I love that Josh is upfront and honest with Liza, asking her to be honest with herself. He was a great character to watch this season.
Want More?
Meet me back here next season to find out where our Younger family will go from here. If you want to experience more Younger, join the FaceBook discussion group. There will be plenty of discussion about what Liza will do with Charles’ proposal.
In the meantime, check out two books pitched on Younger that became actual books IRL and the book based on the show. I plan on reading them all before next season.
