Cloak and Dagger Episode 6

MARVEL'S CLOAK & DAGGER - "B Sides" - (Freeform/Alfonso Bresciani) AUBREY JOSEPH

Cloak and Dagger Episode 6

We are taught to always trust in ourselves, but what if you can’t? Then who do you trust in?

What if you put all your trust in one person and something happens to them, could you survive?

Tandy faces all these questions in Episode 6: B Sides.

Quick catch up with episodes. 3-5

Biggest revelation: the chemicals from Roxxon creates shadows of people. These shadows are the worst part of a person, anger and revenge.

When Detective Reilly’s shadow, rightfully named Mayhem, tries to kill a young boy while Ty and Tandy try to rescues girls taken by human traffickers, she is taken inside of Tyrone’s cloak.

Tandy

After Mayhem gets sucked in by Ty’s cloak, Tandy decides she has to go in to get her out for she has the leads needed to find the girls.

Fun Easter egg:

The man who taught Brigid the card trick on solving cases, was also in Daredevil season 1 over on Netflix

Inside the Cloak

After running into little Ty again, Tandy gives up her powers in order to seek out mayhem.

A record store of memories

They say music can spark memories, and in this story that is literally true.

This record store was filled with records representing all the missing girls Tandy is searching for.

While inside we go through some of Tandy’s memories via a record player and some eerie music at times.

We see that there were multiple times Tandy’s mom could’ve left her abusive father but didn’t. Though we have to keep in mind that this was from a child’s point of view.

After traveling through time with Tandy to not to happy of memories, Tandy ends up having to save Connors from mayhem and by doing so accidentally sets him free.

Because Tandy broke the rules, they are sent back to the normal world, where he runs.

Exploding

When Tandy finds out her mom was drinking again, and hooking up with “a hot doctor” After literally tells her mom she didn’t care enough about her to leave her abusive father, and that she stayed to live the good life and that’s why she is getting with the hot doctor.

After saying it’s easy enough to leave an abuser, Tandy leaves and goes to Andre for help and he sends her to Lia.

Just another harsh issue that this show is tackling. That’s one thing I truly enjoy, it’s not afraid to push all the hot button issues.

Anger becomes blinding

Lia’s ex was abusive and also a known human trafficker. Because Tandy is so angry about these girls being taken she literally uses Ty as her abusing ex (in which Ty with all rights said she picked him because he was black but she said it’s because she trusted him and that he was her best friend) got Lia to tell her where her ex was.

The divine pairing in peril

It’s so hard whenever these two fight because they should be working as one to stop the criminals, not fighting each other.

Though it is nice to see young people in a super hero show act like normal young people instead of perfect kids like in most.

Duped

Tandy goes to where Lia says, and because she is driven by anger and her own own pain, finds out too late that Lia tricked her and was behind the missing girls, getting drugged and taken herself.

Tyrone

In a mess

Tyrone learns too late that he can’t use his power.

After going to see his mom and saving her from a gang trying to kill him, takes her to the church.

Caught between a rock and a hard place

When the gang finds them at the church, Tyrone decides to give himself up, thinking he could just use his powers to take himself to safety in order to save his mom.

When the police storm the church, Tyrone tried to poof away but can’t because unknown to him or Tandy when she gave up her power it also took his.

The minute Tandy uses her power to save Connors though, Tyrone gets his back at just the right moment to save himself.

Cute moment for mother and son

Not only did we learn that Adina knows how to steal cars, but we also saw the two bonding for the first time in a long time.

Adina tells Tyrone that she doesn’t trust Tandy and she would lead him down a dark path while Melissa, Tandy’s mom, says she likes Tyrone and he’s a good influence.

I think seeing the way the two moms view the others child in such different lights is just another strength in the storytelling of this show.

They also talk about Evita and vampires. It was an interesting scene in the church and I enjoyed it.

Connors

Tyrone gets pissed at Tandy for bringing Connors back and tells her he doesn’t need her help.

But when he seeks Brigid’s help, she refuses as she still can’t shoot her gun.

The lie

Tyrone finds Connors with the help of the Loa, who tells Tyrone that he wants to help exonerate him of his murder and to pay for killing his brother.

He tells Tyrone that he can find a letter that proves that his uncle was the one who got him off for the killing of Billy. But when Tyrone goes to where he says it is, he finds nothing.

Anger takes Tyrone

Angry at Connors for lying he threatens to kill him but decides the only person who can truly pass judgement on Connors is his mother and takes Connors to her place.

Now to Episode 6: B Sides…

Our minds are a dangerous place and Tandy learns that the hard way.

We start the episode with Ty and Tandy being found on the beach by none other than Nathan Bowen and Billy Johnson.

Graduation

Then we move onto Tyrone’s graduation day from the police department. Tandy gives a ravishing speech on how Tyrone is her best friend and hero. Even Agent Connors is in attendance:

Ice run

After telling her father not to hurt her mother, Tandy goes outside and Tyrone asks if she wants to go with him for ice.

We learn that Tandy has moved to New York where she is is a Prima Ballerina.

When they get to the store though they are confronted by a customer and a store clerk who make racist comments.

The shop keeper sees Tyrone’s gun and pulls his own. Tyrone tells the shop keeper he’s a cop and Tandy is getting his badge for him.

As Tandy goes for the badge, the shop keeper shoots at her and their powers are sparked sending them each flying in opposite directions. The divine pairing has been born.

Switching scenes

Before Tandy is able to access the situation we end up in a different place, her moms house and she is getting ready to head into work, for Roxxon. We also learn that Tandy’s mom left her father ten years before and he lives in Silicon Valley now.

Bit of fun info

Tandy is said to work at the Roxxon office in New York, this same office is where Elektra was infiltrating in Daredevil S.2.

Roxxon rig

We learn from Mina, who is now the head of the rig, like her father, that Tandy only got the job through her mothers contacts and she doesn’t want her there.

Low and behold, Tyrone is also working there, he also got his job through Billy, who wanted him to have more than he had,

Tyrone and Tandy go down to the over heating core where Mina once again tells her to leave.

As the rig starts to explode Tyrone and Tandy touch and once again their powers awaken the divine pairing.

The truth finally shows

Next we are shown that Tandy is in the ambulance and being drugged by none other than Lia to keep her out.

We also learn that Andre is a part of the whole thing.

Also, we continually are seeing someone switching Tandy’s albums to their second side.

No wonder Tandy has a hard time trusting people. Everyone she has ever trusted except for Tyrone has broken her trust.

Next dream

Tandy is petitioning to save the shore birds when she bumps into Liam, who is looking happy and is dating none other than Makayla.

After getting him to sign the petition, Tandy makes off with his wallet. When the police start chasing her though, she jumps into a car that none other than Tyrone is stealing, using the technique he saw his mother use when she stole the car to get away from the gangs in episode 4.

Tandy pulls a knife and tells him that she’s going with him. In the car she mentions both Liam and Makayla, both of whom she doesn’t know. She also mentions Tyrone’s name not knowing how she knows it.

This is the first time we see her starting to realize something is wrong. She also keeps seeing a strange man no one else can see, she is also hearing sirens and seeing ambulances.

Again at the end, the divine pairing is born.

MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER – “B Sides” – In her quest to bring down the sex trafficking ring, Tandy finds herself in a difficult and strange situation. Not sure what is going to happen, she always has Tyrone to lean on, no matter what the circumstance. This episode of “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” on Freeform. (Freeform/Alfonso Bresciani)
OLIVIA HOLT

Tandy wakes up

Tandy wakes up and sees both Lia and Andre.

Andre has powers

Andre uses his powers and takes Tandy to the record store. He was the man changing the records and who Tandy was seeing.

The night of the explosion, he had tried to kill himself but had been saved by the radiation. He learned by causing others to lose all their hope and live in pain, that he didn’t hurt himself anymore.

The escape

Tandy escapes and finds Tyrone at the church. After telling him everything they call O’Reilly and go to the center where Andre and Lia work.

They find Andre stuffing money into his bag and when they confront him, he shoots and kills Tyrone.

Tandy keeps telling Tyrone she is sorry and that she didn’t mean to get him hurt.

The truth

We are transported back to the record store where we see Tandy holding Tyrone’s body.

It was all a cruel trick by Andre to break her.

Tandy is taken back through all the stories she was shown and in each and everyone she is told she is to blame for everything that goes wrong.

Mina blames her for the explosion, her dad blames her for ruining everyone’s fun at Tyrone’s party, and so on.

As the episode ends, Tandy hands her power, the physical manifestation of her hope, over to Andre, and is taken out of the ambulance by some men.

She has lost all hope and belief in herself.

Final thoughts

This show gets more powerful each week. The first season and on has shown us how racism is still alive and well.

This season though adds in physical, emotional and sexual abuse and tops it off with the truth about human trafficking.

Never does it shy away from the cold hard truth and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon.

Only complaint I have, Tandy and Tyrone have not gotten together yet. The divine pairing needs to be together in mind, body and spirit.
