The Flash Episode 16

Tonight we see a new super hero come to life and even though it’s just for one episode, it’s well worth it. Let’s start with some basics.

Ralph

Ralph has decided he is too afraid to face the world with DeVoe after him. He tells Iris she doesn’t understand what it’s like to be afraid like the rest of them because she isn’t out in the field. In the end though, after a chat with Iris about the fear she had when Savitar was out to kill her, he decided he wanted to be a part of the team and went with Iris to find the next meta and get some more veggie dogs.

I know a lot of people don’t like Ralph, but to me, he is the character that reacts realistically to situations. He feels fear and anxiety and doesn’t always want to run into danger.

Cisco and Wells

Harry decides that the only way to beat DeVoe is to build a cap like his. Everyone is on board except Cisco who doesn’t want to see Harry get hurt.

As the episode continues, Cisco gradually sees that Harry isn’t going to give up, and with a talk from Caitlin, he decides to help Harry with the thinker cap.

At the end of the episode Harry decides he doesn’t need the cap anymore, after it’s getting to dangerous levels, because now they have the names of the last two bus metas and they’re on a quest to save them.

I love scenes between these two. They play well off each other and you can see how much they care for one another.

Mathew Kim

Matthew Kim (played by Leonardo Nam) was one of the metas on the bus when it was hit by dark matter. He has the power to transfer meta powers to another person. Cisco gave him the name Melting Point.

After seeing what his powers could do, he was ready to get rid of them, but Team Flash talked him into helping them with DeVoe thinking that his powers could become the key to stopping him.

When Iris goes with her dad to interrogate Matthew about the bank robbery, he accidentally takes away Barry’s power and gives it to Iris.

It was amazing watching Iris as a speedster. It was also fun watching Barry falter at the job Iris does so easily. The purple lightning and the fact Iris can withstand the speed force has to be a clue to something big, but waiting to find out what that is will be the hard part. Sound off in the comments on your thoughts.

The talks between Barry and Iris are so powerful. They bring out each other’s greatest strengths and their greatest weaknesses. At the end though, Iris choose to give Barry back his powers because being The Flash is where he belongs and she got her job back as a reporter, saving the city in her own special way.

What’s Next? We won’t know until The Flash returns on April 10.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/9c on The CW.
