Legends of Tomorrow – S3 Episode 12

What happens when Pirates meet Legends? Nothing good.

Sara goes on a date

Sara decides to take some personal time and goes on a date with Ava in Star City 2018. While the date started off rocky both Sara and Ava relaxed and we heard some pretty interesting tales. One being that Sara played Peter Pan in a school play and can tap dance. After Sara ignores a call from Gideon, Ava notices Gary and makes the age old excuse to use the bathroom. After learning Rip’s coat had been stolen, she goes back to the table, and finding it empty thinks Sara stood her up. When we see the two together again Sara says they can’t be together because she won’t ever be normal. After assuring Sara she doesn’t want her to be normal – Ava and Sara share a passionate kiss.

I, for one, am glad to see Sara getting her life together and I hope it continues down the right path. Sara deserves it and the fact they are letting things naturally play out between Sara and Ava also make it fun to watch. I am totally on board the ship in which the internet sphere has christened “AvaLance”.

When mommy goes out to play, the children get themselves into trouble

Against Gideon’s judgement the team jump to Chicago 2018 looking for the Fire Totem where we learn Damian has already gotten it. Nate lets the crew know he has found the Earth Totem in 1717 and, again without Gideon’s support, jump to the Bermuda Triangle.

Amaya and Mick

Amaya has always been supportive of Mick since she joined, but in tonight’s episode Mick supported Amaya. He not only lets her know that her totem doesn’t have to control her life, but he also makes her the feared pirate queen, Captain Jiwe.

We also see Blackbeard is a coward every time his back is against the wall. I thought this was also a great way to help Amaya find her strength by proving, even as a normal person, she is fearless in the face of danger unlike those who say they are.

It was nice to see Mick and Amaya bond more. I’ve always respected Amaya because she has always believed in Mick while the others usually throw him under the bus.

At the end, even when Amaya lost her totem, she took Mick’s words to heart and went in and had some adult time with Nate. I am one of the few, but I will always stand behind Nate/Amaya as a couple. I hope they find a way to stay together.

Ray, Mick and The Darhk’s

We all know Ray is the one with the heart of gold so when he shot and left Nora for dead, he felt horrible. After having a conversation with Mick about how he has changed and Nora could to, Ray heads to where they are.

In exchange for the antidote Ray asks for Amaya’s totem back. And in one of the best scenes of the episode, Damian throws it at him saying Nora is the only important thing in his life.

After Ray gives Nora the antidote, Nora starts to kill Ray, but in what I feel is Damian sparing Ray for saving his daughter, stops her saying he’s useful. I myself think Ray has deeper feelings for Nora and I could ship that.

Rip and Wally

Outside of the craziness of the Waverider, Rip talks to Wally about helping him and the Legends go after Mallus.

After a crazy night of drinking, karaoke and bonding by pantsing Gary and stealing his time watch, Rip wakes up and finds Wally wide awake because of his speedster abilities. After thanking him for helping with his hangover, Rip tells Wally he is needed.

I love the scenes with these two. Not only have I missed Rip but I’ve missed Wally on The Flash so this helps in both those areas. I hope Rip stays around.

And In conclusion

Hopefully next week we will learn Wally’s decision on joining the Waverider. I also can’t wait to see why Damian thinks Ray is useful and how Nora is going to respond due to Ray being kind to her when she was a child.

I hope we continue seeing Ava and Sara’s relationship move forward and stay healthy and that Amaya and Nate find a way to stay together.

Also in the spirit of things I hope Rip sticks around and Mick gets additional scenes where he is in charge. I think he makes a wonderful captain. The call he made to help Amaya in tonight’s episode proves that he cares for the team and wants them to be happy.
