Legends of Tomorrow Episode 16

We all have secrets and Ava is no different. In tonight’s episode we learned what that secret is and the fate of the AvaLance ship.

Sara and Ava

In this weeks episode Sara puts Amaya in charge of the ship while she takes some alone time. She is about to leave when she is stopped by Gary telling her that Ava has gone missing. When Sara, Ray and Gary search for clues they end up in Fresno where they learn that the people Ava thought were her parents were actually hired actors.

After stealing Ava’s time courier they find out that her first mission was to Vancouver 2213. At first they think she is an anachronism but they find out quickly they are wrong. Stealing the mothership and heading to 2213, they find out Ava is a clone. After ditching some very dangerous Ava clones – our Ava arrives, who they first thought was aware of things, but turns out she had no idea and they escape.

When they get back, Ava and Sara decide that the only one who knows the truth is Rip. They next move is to go and talk to him.

Sara broke up with Ava because she believed that she was death itself. She believed she could never change and she didn’t want to hurt Ava. But when Ava starts to believe she is nothing more than a mindless clone, Sara reminds her that no matter where she comes from – she is who she is and she has power over her own destiny. I really hope Sara takes her own advice and the two find their way back to each other by the end of the season.

Nate and Amaya

After learning her granddaughter Mari was injured trying to help people in 2018 because she no longer had a totem due to her mother losing it to Nora – Amaya wants to go and talk to her, but Nate and Wally tell her that she should stay on the ship and they will go take care of it.

Nate and Wally head off and, while checking on Mari, run into Kuasa. Kuasa comes up with a plan to trade Nate to the Darhks for Amaya’s totem. When she successfully does, she leaves Nate with the Darhks to kill because she doesn’t want her or her sister erased from the timeline.

The interaction between Nate and Damian was wonderful and funny. I love how they are showing just how much Mallus taking over Nora is really hurting Damian. I have a feeling by the end Damian will be helping to save his daughter.

After sadly breaking it off with Nate, Amaya takes the jump ship to 1992 to save both her granddaughters.

I, for one, am saddened that Nate and Amaya are being pulled apart. They are so good together. I just hope they find some way to be together even though it looks impossible. I’m also glad to see Wally being an active member of the team. He fits in much better on the Waverider than in Central City.

Elsewhere on the WaveRider

Zari and Mick

Zari was tasked to train Mick in the powers of his totem. I love how they bring in the fact Zari is observing Ramadan. The incorporation of different ethnicities and religions is much better done on Legends than on many other shows.

We also see that the death of a totem bearer can affect all those that have one. When Kuasa died, both Mick and Zari felt it deeply causing an emotional reaction from the both of them.

I do wish though that they would stop just using Mick for comic relief. He has so many layers and they only show him as a beer drinking guy who loves to eat. Hopefully, as time goes on, we will see Mick become a more serious member of the team.

And this leads us to…

Next weeks episode

Next week we get Ava and Sara confronting Rip and (much to my own disdain) the return of Grodd. Though it does look as though Grodd does have something against a young Barack Obama – Let’s hope the legends can solve this one in time.

With two more episodes until the season ends, it will be interesting to see how everything gets wrapped up and who will survive.

Legends of Tomorrow airs Monday’s at 8/9c on The CW.
