Blood and Treasure Episode 9
Working Together
The episode starts off in Rome. Danny is going through the Operation Paperclip file that the FBI gave him. Lexi asks how his research is going. Most of the files have the Nazis traced from Spain. Since Cleopatra was detoured to Casablanca, they don’t have any record of it. Danny suggests asking the brotherhood for help in working together on this.
Lexi sets up a meeting with Fabi. Danny enters. Fabi begins to deny his involvement in the brotherhood. Danny cuts to the chase and says that he has proof of his involvement and they can link the brotherhood to one murder, so Fabi would end up in prison if he won’t cooperate. Danny gives him the operation paperclip file and Fabi begins to peruse the names on the file. he says that Nazi hunters found most of the names on the list and brought them to justice.
He shows them shipping manifests from Casablanca. Cleopatra had to be on one of three ships. Two were destined for Argentina which was a Nazi haven after the war. Fabi needs to get more information on where to go, but they agree to meet at the train station to take the long way out of Rome. Danny suggests that Fabi should get rid of his phone since Gwen may be on to him.
Fabi arrives at the terminal, but Gwen is right behind him. He runs and she gives chase. She catches up to him and with an intense fight scene, takes him down and arrests him for Max Najjar’s murder. Now, I have to ask, where was her backup when she was fighting with Fabi? She arrived with other officers, and they don’t run after him as well?
New Plan
Gwen takes Fabi back to the Carabinieri headquarters as he does the walk of shame through the desks of the other officers he served with.
Lexi is already thinking up a plan to break him out of the cells, but Danny stops her and suggests they visit a friend of a client of his. Moshe is a former Nazi hunter who may have an idea of where to look for Cleopatra next.
A bit of a recluse, Moshe does not like visitors and his property in Poland is armed with traps. As Danny and Lexi avoid one of them, they make their way to his house. Approaching the door, they step on a sensitive pressure plate that will detonate a bomb of they move. Moshe greets them with a gun and wants to know who they are. After realizing they are looking to stop stop Farouk and find Cleopatra, Moshe helps them. He tells them about a group led by Colonel Jurgen Steiner. But Moshe says that Steiner never went to Argentina. The third ship that left went to Quebec, to a site close to a dam. Moshe feels this would be a good place to get power for their project.
Gwen is interrogating Fabi, but he denies that he was part of the Brotherhood. As the Carabinieri are getting ready to transfer Fabi, he escapes during the transfer. After he has left the building, he makes a call. We do not know who is on the other line, but when Fabi mentions he has been compromised, the man sets up a safe place for him to go. Fabi declines and instead wants the man to track down Lexi and send him to wherever she has gone.
We Give A Dam
In Quebec 1945, the Nazis that took Cleopatra listen to a radio broadcast of Truman talking about the bomb over Hiroshima. The Nazis want to unleash their own superpower through Cleopatra and recite lines to begin Projekt Athena. With a pendulum swinging over Cleopatra and the Nazis standing around the sarcophagus, the chanting stops as does the pendulum. The power begins to fade in and out and the Nazis are electrocuted.
Back to present day at the St Denis Dam, Danny and Lexi try to have a look around, but they are stopped by a worker, Caroline. Danny asks to stay and look around and Caroline agrees to take them out the long way. As they are exiting Danny asks about the disaster of ‘45 and she says that she thinks the power surge came from the weather station.
They go to visit the weather station and notice quite a few electrical lines going to a decommissioned station. The current owner of the land, Georges Larose purchased the property after it was decommissioned and lives there. He shows them some of the journals from the previous owner during the disaster of 1945 and Lexi finds a sundial of The Black Sun. It is similar to the one they found at Castle Schadelberg. Georges starts to get suspicious of them and tazes them.
Fabi goes to visit the dam. Caroline stops him. He asks about Lexi and Danny, but Caroline says they left hours ago. He notices a frame on the wall with Georges Larose’s picture and asks Caroline about him.
A Hero’s Death
Danny wakes up, with his hands bound. He tells Georges that they are looking for Cleopatra, but Georges says she is gone and he got rid of her after his father died. His father believed that he could defeat the world with Cleopatra, but Georges feels that is nonsense. He thinks Danny is there to tie up loose ends for Operation Paperclip and he stabs him.
Lexi is bound in another room and as she is struggling to free herself, Fabi comes in to help. They go to rescue Danny, but Georges puts a gun to his head when they bust through the doors. Georges tells them that Everado Sanchez has Cleopatra, but he recognizes Fabi as one of the men that killed his father. Realizing he won’t get out alive, Georges takes Lexi hostage and starts to leave. Lexi stabs his leg, and Georges and Fabi fire their guns. Both men are shot, and Fabi reveals that his partner, Lexi’s mother, was killed when they came after Georges father. It was Lexi’s mother that was in the Brotherhood. Fabi dies from the gunshot.
The carabinieri inform Karlsson of Fabi’s death. Gwen asks to see the report, but they refuse and tell her they are only informing her as a courtesy. It seems as though she has now lost her means of information and cooperation with the carabineri. She traces Danny’s cell phone and realizes that he was in Quebec when Fabi was killed.
Danny gives Lexi the Brotherhood pendant that Fabi had. He thinks she should go there to get answers about her mother. (I wonder if Lexi will follow in her mother’s footsteps and join the Botherhood.) Danny offers to help her find answers together and they share a kiss. End credits.
Thoughts
Last week we found out more about Danny’s backstory, and this week we find out a little more about Lexi’s past. It was interesting to see that it was Lexi’s mother that was in the Brotherhood. That makes me curious to see what else this storyline will reveal, expecially since we know that Farouk had a connection with her father.
I have to admit, I was starting to like Fabi and I was sad to see him die this episode. At least he died a hero, helping to save Lexi. We finally got to see Fabi with the Brotherhood, work together with Danny and Lexi. I was hoping that would reveal more about the Brotherhood, but maybe that will come when Lexi finds answers about her mother.
