Black Lightning Episode 8

Truths were revealed and new super heroes were found on the newest episode of Black Lightning. Let’s break down the action…

LaLa and Lawanda

Things just keep getting weirder surrounding these two. First Lawanda wants him to kill the people driving LaLa home and then she is with him in the shower, kissing him and calling him baby. We still don’t know exactly what Lawanda is and we don’t know how LaLa came back from the grave.

Honestly these two are the weakest part of the story. They don’t really add anything to it. I would’ve rather seen more of Lady Eve and Tori. Let me know in the comments what you think.

Jefferson and Anissa

It’s time for some father/daughter training time. Jeff knows he can’t go out as Black Lightning as long as people think he killed Lady Eve, so he is trying to train Anissa to be able to clear his name.

The two of the them break into the morgue where Anissa was able to tell that Lady Eve had been killed not by lightning, but by a gun using nuclear power.

When they check out the location of the gun, a mystery man shows up and thankfully Anissa was able to save her dad from an explosion the man caused while tinkering with the gun.

Later that evening Jefferson has a talk with Gambi, that he was pushed into doing by Lynn, and unhappy about what he heard – tells Gambi to stay away from him and his family.

Gambi

We finally learn the truth about Peter Gambi, whose real name turns out to be Peter Esposito, and he works for a group called the ASA.

The ASA drugged people to be more complacent and when Gambi learned they were killing children he wanted to put a stop to it. He passed the file onto Jefferson’s dad which ultimately ended up getting him killed.

I know a lot of people don’t trust Gambi but I do. Honestly, what would a super hero show be without that one person doing questionable things out of wanting to keep the hero safe. I just hope we see a resolution between these two as soon as possible.

When Thunder met Lightning

When Jen is released from chore duty at her mom’s job, she goes to the school to help her friend hang posters for the school election. Watching her friend climb a shaky ladder, Jen gets worried and when her fears of her friend falling come true, we watch as lightning plays in her eyes and she fries her cellphone and her friends posters. Thankfully her friend landed on her feet and was alright.

Later that night after practicing making her power come out, Jennifer goes into Anissa’s room and shows her the phone and tells her she did it with her hands. Anissa doesn’t say anything and that’s where the episode leaves us.

I can’t wait to see where this goes and to witness both girls suit up. I think this show is doing a great job of showing that powerful women are out there and they sometimes outshine the men.

Black Lightning airs Tuesday’s at 9/8c on the CW
