Younger Season 6 Episode 9
Last week Liza’s big secret was revealed. I’ve been following the Facebook group chats, and everyone agrees Pauline acted selfishly by outing Liza like that. Especially after stating they should all act like adults as the divorce is coming to a close. Why not address it with Liza directly? Some people think Pauline was hurt more by Charles choosing a woman her age than by the thought he left for a younger woman. What do you think?
Put Out the Fire
Now Millennial is dealing with the aftermath of the big reveal; agents are canceling meetings, and a potential deal with the clothing company, Infinitely 21, is in jeopardy. Zane is fired up about Liza’s lie; he Kelsey should fire Liza. Fuel is added to his flame when he realized Kelsey knew about Liza’s age before Pauline announced it and he storms out.
Later, Kelsey is calling and leaving messages for Zane. Kelsey threatens he may not have a job if he doesn’t respond soon. Diana suggests he’s probably not actually upset with Liza, but instead with Kelsey.
Infinitely 21
Kelsey and Liza’s meeting with the marketing exec from Infinitely 21 is not going well. I really love this scene. This chick is rudely condescending towards Liza and Kelsey. The deal they had was about selling books together, but Shelly says the deal was about the brand. Her brand is young, fun, and sexy, and the kiss of death for any youth brand is being embraced by an older generation. I love the way Liza stands up for herself. She’s not wrong when she says “we’re all pretending to be younger. We dye our hair, whiten our teeth, wear Spanx, etc. all to be 27 again. Millennial isn’t an age; it’s an attitude. If you can’t sell that, we’ll go somewhere else.”
An Invitation
I think Maggie is all over the board this season. She found a new woman who has now disappeared from our storyline. Maggie had an identity crisis when she didn’t feel desirable at a bar, and now we see her flirting with a man at an art gallery. These two have some very sexy flirting going on, and he asks to see her artwork, which leads them back to Maggie’s apartment. Once there, he is coming on strong, and Maggie lets him know she’s gay. He knows this, but he wanted to get to know her better. He thinks Maggie let him into her place because she’s curious and she kisses him.
Don’t Shoot
Liza wakes up to this man in their apartment and thinks she’s getting robbed. She’s shocked to learn Maggie spent the night with a man. Maggie assures her she’s not interested, but rather it seemed like a good idea to take a sample at the time. She’s not interested in doing it again.
Those Legs Though
Liza later receives a call from Shelly at Infinitely 21, re-instating their partnership. They now see Liza’s point and want to embrace “young” as an attitude as she does. Shelly asks Liza to be the face and legs of their spring clothing line. Liza hesitantly agrees, and the photoshoot is tomorrow.
Leave it to Lauren
Lauren brings Liza a “bow-flex for your face” and promises it will take ten years off her face. Liza is rushed out of the makeup trailer to the shoot, leaving Diana alone in the trailer. She becomes curious about this device. Charles walks into the trailer to see Diana using this device, and it’s absolutely hilarious. I died laughing. I first saw this device on a video on Facebook (linked here), you need to watch this then come right back!
Ok, Hilarious right? Also, so not relevant to our story, but I couldn’t resist the laugh.
At the photoshoot, Charles chats with Liza during a break, and the photographer ends up snapping a few shots of them talking together. We see the snapshots on the monitor, and clearly that they don’t particularly look in love or that great together.
And Quinn’s back
Liza is back in the makeup trailer as Quinn waltzes right back into our lives (insert groan here). In town as part of her campaign trail, Quinn stops by to torture us. The publishing world is upset, but outside of that, no one cares. She wants to amplify the story, to hear louder voices of praise for Liza. New York 1 is doing a series on corporate ageism and discrimination, and Quinn could use another prop to boost her campaign. Quinn wants Liza to join her in the interview.
