The Gifted Season 2 Premiere
The Gifted has returned to gift us with another awesome season of mutants. With the core group now split into two main factions The Underground vs The Inner Circle all hell is breaking loose.
Liberty Park apartment Washington DC
After the dealings of the Hellfire Club we come back to what’s going on in world.
And it’s grim.
As we see armed Sentinel officers busting into apartments. To detain or kill all the mutants living there.
Those who defied got beat up or shot.
But the new X-men aren’t to far away as we shift to an abandoned building, And see John Proudstar aka thunderbird telling Marcos Diaz aka Eclipse that they have a major situation.
Going back to the apartments; We see the parents of two young girls as they fought to protect them from being taken. Luckily the two young girls get away.
Next we see Marcos and John driving up to storage area, used as a safe place if there’s trouble. And find people inside.
Up next is Clarice Fong aka Blink and Lauren Strucker going to the next meeting place.
At first they believe no one made it. Then they see the people got trapped in another area, where the sentinel officers were breaking in.
But Blink is on it and opens up a portal that Lauren goes through and ushers all the people through. Before going back through herself.
Mutant Safehouse
Back at the safe house we see Kate Strucker treating one of the girls we saw escape.
The girl asks about her sister Jasmine and Kate tells her she will look into it.
After she helps her Kate goes Into the medical supply room and takes out something she’s hidden. Which Im Still unsure what it is.
Going into the hidden room where her husband Reed is working on fake IDs for the people they saved.
And while he’s not looking hides whatever she snuck out of the room.
As her and Reed talk we find out John has tracked Lorna and Andy to DC. And we start to see Kate is starting to give up.
Team meeting time
Reed informs the others that he has made them all fake passports and have found someone to take them to Baltimore.
Blink tells the group Cristine, doesn’t want to leave without her sister Jasmine and asks John if he can track her.
He tells her it will be hard but he will try.
So they decide she can stay with them.
But before the meeting ends, Marcos tells the group he’s reached out to a mutant named Wire to help look for Lorna and Andy.
All accept Kate is unhappy to hear he reached out while their in hiding and working with a criminal none the less.
Strucker Family Dinner
As with most family dinners things aren’t all smiles and laughs. Especially when you’re in the middle of a mutant war.
As Reed comes home he tells Kate and Lauren that they got all the people they rescued safely over the border.
But Kate is to obsessively looking through any articles to try to find something about Andy, Or the hellfire club, To hear him.
Or to notice he gets dazed at the faucet hearing ringing in his ears.
She doesn’t snap out of it till she hears Reed mention that maybe Lauren should get a job to make friends her age, Since there’s really no one at the shelter.
But Kate has none of it as the shelter is where Lauren is getting any information about Andy. And that comes first.
Lauren says the shelter is fine and goes into her room and slams the door shut.
The Dream
In what appears as reality we see Lauren, as she goes up to the roof of a building and finds Andy.
She embraces Andy who looks a lot different these days. They talk before Andy takes her hand and forces her to use their joint mutant power.
She then wakes up screaming and tells her worries parents about the dream. All Kate does is question her daughter about the dream to find out about Andy.
Reed tells her it was probably just a dream. Kate retorts but Lauren shuts them both down by just saying it’s hazy and she remembers nothing, And goes to bed.
The Lies
After getting Lauren water, Kate makes a call to Marcos telling him she wants to meet up with Wire.
Even though he’s not sure about it. The next day they go see Wire. And after a skirmish where Kate gets grazed by a bullet, They get Wire to give them all the data he has on the Hellfire group.
When they return with the information, They tell John and Blink who just got done telling Cristine that her sisters been taken but they hope by their side.
The others aren’t to happy to hear they went to Wire.
Powers?
Later we see Reed collecting supplies, when John calls him telling him they need medical tape for his wife.
But near the end of the conversation Once again he starts hearing the ringing. Than falls over in pain. His arm extends as power flows through it.
I’m kind of happy Reed is getting his powers back though I feel bad for Kate who is now truly the only human. Though with her attitude at the moment it’s hard to feel to bad for her.
What’s with the lights?
Of course we know, Lorna is having the baby. But Marcos doesn’t know what’s wrong as he sees the power surge through town.
And he busts in to tell Reed and Kate, Just as Reed is about to tell Kate about his powers.
Following a trail.
John, Marcos and Blink take off to follow a trail John found by following a green electric current.
But before they find where she is the power dies and so does the trail.
And Marco is left wondering if Lorna is dead or what happened.
The pain Marco is going through is hard to watch especially since it’s obvious they both still love each other. Hopefully soon they will find each other again.
While the underground actually is saving mutants it’s not that way on the other side of town.
The Inner Circle
Reeva makes her own
At the beginning of the episode the inner circle calls Reeva out for what her and the Frost sisters did in Atlanta.
Contending that she did what she did for the sake of all mutants, Reeva uses her powers, a sonic scream that disabled all the others in the room.
The triplets then all go around and shoot the members leaving just them and Reeva as the new circle.
Six months later..
The baby is ready
With Lorna ready to give birth any day, the Frost sisters move her to a secured weapon warehouse so her powers don’t destroy everything.
She has a pre-labor contraction that causes the car she is in to spin around, thankfully no one was in it.
Inside the building we see them building a room to contain the size of power Lorna gives out.
worried Reeva will kill the baby if it means saving her, she makes Andy promise that he will protect the baby no matter what if something happens to her,
The bond she has formed with Andy is one of another older sister and he has become as protective of her as he was with Lauren.
Lorna goes into labor
All hell breaks loose when Lorna goes into labor. She literally starts to bring the building down. She also brings the city’s power grid down as well.
Lorna’s doctor lets everyone know she isn’t crowning and if she doesn’t soon she will die and it could be mental.
I thought for sure it was because she didn’t want to have the baby without Marcos there and he would arrive. I would be proven wrong though.
Showing the audience he is still brave, Andy stands up to Reeva when she tries to get close. It’s good to see Andy still has his nobility.
After promising Andy that they wanted to save both mother and baby, Reeva and the Frost sisters go over and using their telepathic powers show her what she’s fighting for, a place where her child could grow up without fear and in the open.
The future is here
The next time we see Lorna is her holding the baby. And as the camera zooms in, we learn the baby’s name, Dawn.
Again I’m heartbroken that she didn’t name her Aurora like her and Marcos had talked about.
What about Andy
Well, we don’t know much. All we know is that he has taken up a bodyguard role when it comes to Lorna.
He is also now sporting blond hair and wears a leather jacket and pants. He’s grown since we last saw him but it mostly seems physical. His mental state seems about the same.
What happens now?
With the mutants at each other’s throat and the humans literally arresting them for no reason, the viewers are in for a wild ride this season.
