The Gifted Season 2 Episode 8
The Struckers
To try to help Reed, Lauren and Kate take him to see Doctor Risman (played by Kate Burton). A doctor that worked with Reeds dad on helping to remove Reeds X-gene.
They find out that she’s been working to help other mutants with debilitating x-genes.
She gives Reed the original serum. Which seems to work. But she says it’s only holding the cracks together and will break again.
She tells them she has to make a serum from Laurens blood as she has stabilized powers.
Lauren doesn’t mind especially since she’s been falling for Rismans assistant Noah (played by Ken Kirby).
But that all ends when he spills the beans by accident while drawing her blood. We learn that Risman is trying to find a way to get rid of the gene and that her brother started the purifiers.
Also during all this Risman talks about the evil Struckers and even gives them their music box.
Which Lauren thinks is a beautiful melody.
I think we’re going to see an evil Lauren sooner than later
John and Clarice
Well John is still gung-ho about taking down the Inner Circle and helping save mutants their way. Clarice isn’t so sure.
Finding Rebecca
As their looking for clues about where the inner circle went after the attack. John sees that Rebecca ran away at a stoplight.
After following her trail which included a dead body. They find her.
And when they ask her why she left she tells them she sees things differently than they do.
And when asked what the inner circle wanted she tells them she doesn’t know much just that they went there for the Regimen.
After the chat she runs off
For everyone’s sake hopefully Rebecca is gone for good because she is crazy and will kill anyone, but unfortunately the Inner Circle found her at the end.
Lorna’s Quest
Fear for Dawn
After Rebecca’s actions at the bank, Lorna decides Dawn’s not safe with the Inner Circle.
Where to take Dawn
Esme tells her about a school in Switzerland that’s safe for mutant kids and after hearing about an orphanage for mutant children getting burned down, she decides its for the best.
The Past
We learn that Lorna was raised by her aunt in a small town and she hated the town.
She also went to jail once and her father, whom hasn’t been named but by the red emblem he left her on her thirteenth birthday, we know for sure is Magneto, made a call to get her out.
A heartbreaking visit
Lorna takes Dawn to see Marcos before taking her to the school. Of course Marcos is furious but spends time with the baby before they leave.
When Lorna goes to get the baby to leave, her and Marcos touch making the Aurora Borealis around themselves.
They are fighting against each other yet they need each other.
Outside the door, as she is leaving, Lorna hears Marcos screaming and throwing things which we could tell emotionally hurt her.
Dawn’s new home
Lorna takes Dawn to her aunt to watch. She says she finally understands that her aunt wasn’t hiding her from her father, but protecting her for him and she wants her to do the same for Dawn.
Her aunt agrees and Lorna leaves in tears but also happy that Dawn will be safe.
Daughter of Magneto rises
Lorna goes back and shapes her fathers medallion into a green crown like his. She marches out with her head held high, ready to build a new world for her daughter.
Final thoughts
Rebecca really needs to be locked away. She is dangerous not just to non-mutants but to other mutants as well. Plus, her character isn’t really that interesting.
The Strucker family really knows how to get themselves into a bind. Now they are going up against a woman who wants a way to eradicate the mutant gene. I hope Lauren kicks her butt.
Marcos needs to calm down a bit. I know he’s angry and upset but Lorna is too and even though she could have just taken her, she couldn’t do that to Marcos because she knows how much pain he’s in as well.
I hope these two find a way to reconcile because they need one another.
I believe Lorna told everyone she was going to the school instead of her aunts because it keeps Dawn safe if The Frost sisters search for her. Now everyone thinks the baby is one place and she’s another. Lorna’s new headpiece should keep them out of her head.
I’m pretty sure that if things keep going the way they are, we are going to see a split between Clarice and Johnny sooner than later.
