How to Get Away with Murder- I’m Not Her. – Review

HTGAWM

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER - "I'm Not Her" - While Annalise reconnects with an important client from her past, she continues to struggle to move forward in her personal life. Meanwhile, the "Keating 4" find it difficult to move past their tarnished reputations; and in a flash-forward, details to a tragic crime begin to unfold on, "How to Get Away with Murder," THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Mitch Haaseth) VIOLA DAVIS, JIMMY SMITS

Surprise, surprise! The same law interns who stated “I’m not her,” and ran from the big bad boss have transformed into Annalise 2.0.

In the first 25 minutes of episode 2 of How to Get Away with Murder, regular old, every-day topics like therapy, pregnancy and prostitution took center stage. I can’t help but reminisce of days gone by when Annalise (Viola Davis) and her Interns hid bodies, changed police reports, and ruined lives to protect one another. Those salacious activities kept the series spicy and full of unexpected outcomes. If anyone trades recipes or tips for getting out a really tough stain, I might scream.

I’m stunned that Annalise agreed to see a therapist. I anticipated more push back from this deadly diva. Psychiatrist Isaac Roa (Jimmy Smits) appeared to have ulterior motives, though. I’m assuming everyone saw Mr. Roa hang up his cellphone quickly with an unknown caller when Annalise arrived for her session? I believe it might have been Laurel’s father (Esai Morales) trying to use his power and influence to destroy Annalise.

It’s amusing to watch Annalise check into her psychiatrist online profile.  The cat and mouse game Annalise and Isaac play has grown into a point of contention with me. I wanted them to just put all their cards on the table. I took a breath and realized, “They pulled me into their game!”

It’s clear Laurel (Karla Souza) believed her father killed Wes (Alfred Enoch), the father of her unborn child, when she put the wheels in motion to avenge his death.  The interaction between Laurel & Michela (Aja Naomi King) and their plotting the demise of Laurel’s father reminds me of times gone bye.

Annalise shared her cautionary tale of meeting and marrying her first husband Sam, which ended in his death. I knew this therapy session was a part of a plan already set in motion. Now we wait, for all the players to line up and the other shoe(s) to drop. We now have an apartment laced in blood, an all too familiar scene, and the prime suspect, Annalise, is missing.  Now, the real fun begins.

This episode left me with three “Gotta Know” questions:

  1. What happened to Laurels baby?
  2. Is Annalise working a side deal with her psychiatrist?
  3. What happened in Annalise’s apartment?

Let me know your thoughts
