Blood and Treasure Season 1 Finale!

In the last episode, Antony and Cleopatra were found again, Dr Castillo learned that Jay is Karim’s father, and Jay poisoned her to protect his secret.

The carabinieri are at Jay’s place investigating Ana Castillo’s murder.  Jay is blaming Farouk, but Danny is trying to figure out why the poison they used was in the wine as opposed to contact poison that Farouk has used before.  He urges Jay to hold off the unveiling of Antony and Cleopatra..

The Truth is Revealed

At Father Chuck’s apartment, Danny and Lexi are dumping the wine.  Father Chuck comes home and tells them about the document that Dr. Castillo signed for.  Gwen calls Danny and sends him files from Ghazal’s hard drive. Ghazal was Reece’s mole, not Farouk’s.  Reece has always been about keeping this secret and he has been using Danny. Gwen also discovered that Lexi’s father found Farouk’s birth certificate.  It was Reece that had Lexi’s father killed, not Farouk.

Danny thinks maybe Fabi shared the information with the Brotherhood. Lexi calls Alina, but she is not pleased to hear Lexi.  She thinks that it was Lexi that robbed the bank and Lexi calls it even for leaving them stranded on an island. Alina can’t talk because she got a tip that Farouk’s men are transporting the bioweapon and plans to take out the truck.  They kill Farouk’s men, but when they open the truck, a bomb goes off and takes out Alina and the Brotherhood.

Gwen calls Lexi and tells her that they think this was the last of Farouk’s men and that all of the toxin was destroyed.  The threat should be over. Father Chuck receives invitations for Reece’s gala. Jay decided to have it the next day, on the anniversary of Cleopatra’s death.  They’ve set up a plan to take Reece down.

In Cairo, Danny, Lexi and Father Chuck arrive at the gala.  They find Shaw. Father Chuck has smuggled in a recording device and they plan on getting Reece to confess.  Simon joins the party, but doesn’t want to stay long and suggests they leave as soon as they can too. A security guard is checking all the doors and finds one open.  It leads to a stairwell, where armed men are hiding and kill the guard when he opens the door. Jay begins the ceremony and Simon and Shaw are honored. Lexi plants the bug on Jay and Danny tries to get him to confess.

Jay realizes what he is doing and leaves the conversation. Shaw tells Danny that Jay was on to him, but the bug went dead. Danny thinks that what he told the security team may be enough. Gwen calls Danny to tell him that there is no toxin at the site of the explosion.  Lexi spots one of Karim’s men dressed as a museum guard and they believe the toxin may be on the premises. Danny starts to suspect Simon Hardwick, since he was at every event with them and he’s the one that gave them the tip about Antony and Cleopatra. Lexi doesn’t think he has something to do with this, because he killed Farouk.  Danny reminds her that he killed Rasheed Hegazi. Simon Hardwick is Karim Farouk and the attack is about to happen at the gala.

Flashback to Iraq, 2014.  Simon was held captive by Hegazi.  We see his master plan unravel and he suggested Hegazi use the name Karim Farouk.

Farouk’s Revenge

Back at the gala, Shaw leaves and Father Chuck was taken away by security.  It is up to Danny and Lexi to stop the attack, but they get called away by security and tied up.  Roarke, the woman that attacked them in Havana is there. She asks them who else knows about Dr. Castillo, but Danny tries to tell them about the toxin.  She doesn’t believe them and asks them about Dr. Castillo again. Simon reveals to Reece who he really is, and begins his master plan. He used Hegazi the whole time to get revenge on his father and now the day of reckoning has arrived.  He releases the toxin.

Roarke asks Danny about Castillo again, and Danny lies saying the FBI knows everything.  She catches his lie, but just then Shaw comes in to save the day. Lexi escapes the ropes and they start to release Father Chuck. Roarke shoots at them, but Shaw jumps in front of them.  His medal took the hit, so he escaped death once again. Danny tries to get into the gala, but the doors are locked. Lexi catches up to Roarke and they fight. Lexi has the opportunity to kill her, but doesn’t.

Danny finds a way to bust into the room through the glass ceiling and he begins to take out the guards.  Gwen arrives with the antidote. Danny wants to let Reece die, but Lexi gives Reece the antidote. Shaw realizes that Simon is gone.

Justice is Served

At the carabinieri headquarters, Gwen, Danny, Lexi are trying to figure out where Simon went.  Danny asks Gwen to deputize him. In Seychelles, we see Simon sitting on the beach, Lexi and Danny walk up to him and arrest him.  Gwen takes him away.

Cairo, opening night at the Antony and Cleopatra exhibit.  Shaw, Lexi, Danny, Gwen, and Father Chuck are there. Danny gives Gwen back the badge.  As they leave the exhibit one by one, Danny and Lexi are left there and they share a kiss.

Thoughts

Another plot twist!  Shaw avoids death once again!  The team saves the day!

So many things happened this episode.  I never expected that Simon was Farouk.  That was a really surprising twist. I thought as we neared the end of the episode, that Simon was going to escape and perhaps we would catch him next season.  Everything was cleaned up nicely and the team solved the case. They got their man, Cleopatra and Antony are safe and now Danny and Lexi can figure out their complicated relationship.

This was a great finale tying up all the loose ends.  It means a lot to the fans when we can have closure on a season and not be left with a cliffhanger finale.  There’s always a possibility of the show not getting another season. Fortunately for Blood and Treasure, it has already been announced that they will be returning next summer!  I can’t wait to go on another adventure with this team!
