The Purge Episode 6: The Forgotten – Recap

The Purge/USA Network

The Purge Episode 6: The Forgotten

Can Purge Night get any worse? Why, yes. Yes, it can. And it did, this week in Episode 6 of The Purge.

Joe

The episode opened with a series of flashbacks where we get to know a little more about our favorite vigilante, Joe, AKA The Masked Man.

It seems that before the Purge, Joe was a nice, sweet, single guy working as a shop laborer. Things looked okay for Joe, except that he couldn’t get a date. But then he showed up to work one day and the company he worked for had shut down and would not let anyone in. He, and all the other employees, lost their job, their insurance, and their severance. One thing seemed to lead to another for Joe, and he became more and more bitter, which made him who is today, the kickass hero driving around saving people on Purge Night. And guess who just turned up on his handy little app? (P.S. I’d like to know how this app is tracking Purge victims, by the way?) Our girl, Jane. Yep, looks like Joe is about to save Jane. And she definitely needs saving.

Jane

She had no idea what she was getting herself into when she set out for David’s place. And honestly, I didn’t either. I thought that the woman she had hired would already be there and she would try to kill Jane, too. But I was very wrong.

David lets Jane into his place and she admits to him what she did, that she hired someone to kill him on Purge Night. She tries to warn him that the woman is on the way and that he is in danger. But David is oddly calm about all of this and assures Jane that they’re safe. He then takes her on a little tour of his place, and offers to let her stay the rest of Purge Night there. Jane slowly realizes that something is wrong and tries to get out. That’s when she finds the hit woman, dead. And before Jane can get away, the sick and demented David takes her to his private lair, full of men fondling and groping women who have been chained up. David makes a bunch of disgusting racists comments and a horrified Jane calls him the pig that he is (how are the Matron Saints looking now, Jane?)—right before his henchmen grab her. Let’s hope Joe gets to her in time.

Miguel and Penelope

Not a whole lot of screen time for these two this episode. Miguel manages to knock Henry out, then somehow brings down the pole Henry has him tied to. Before he can get to Penelope, Henry comes to and Miguel ends up snapping his neck. Bye bye Henry. They’re away from Henry now, but they still have to make it out of the Carnival of Flesh, and Cowboy is hot on their trail.

Jenna and Rick

The couple have escaped from the Stanton’s and ran all the way back to their home. They get there safely and lock down. Then they have a huge fight about why Jenna left Rick to go find Lila. Rick thought that Jenna knew the guys were coming with guns and she just left him there. Jenna tearfully tells Rick that she doesn’t like who he has become, she doesn’t like that he was so easily swayed by Stanton and almost killed a man. She tries to call Lila again and someone answers and says that Lila is dead. Jenna is devastated and tells Rick the news. He acts like he’s upset, but I think honestly he was relieved to think that Lila was out of the picture. As a matter of fact, they both moved on pretty quickly. Lila’s dead, oh well, let’s have some scrambled eggs. But surprise, surprise …. someone bangs on the door—it’s a badly beaten Lila, begging to be let in. I kind of knew that was coming.

Love to hear your thoughts—will Joe save Jane? Will Miguel and Penelope make it out? And what about Lila, I know they’ll let her in, but what then? Are they gonna be a happy family together?

The Purge returns October 16, 10/9 C, on USA Network.
