The Good Doctor Quarantine Part 2
The Good Doctor is back with a bang, finishing up where we left off back in December—and just like Part 1 of Quarantine, Part 2 was off the hook! There was so much happening, it was crazy, and I hope I don’t forget anything in this recap.
Was Shaun Able to Get His Act Together?
Yes. He finally pulled out of his breakdown and after Dr. Park (who came in despite the quarantine so that he could be with his son who was having an asthma attack) managed to put out the light fixture that was driving Shaun insane, he was back to saving lives. Also, Shaun got to deliver a baby!
Remember the pregnant lady? Her water broke (of course it did) and Shaun had to do a C-section because the baby was stuck. After bunches of complications, the baby is born but it’s not breathing. Shaun tries to start CPR, but the mother needs help, too, or she’s not gonna make it. He can’t do both, so our brilliant Shaun goes into the waiting area and asks if anyone knows CPR. Park’s son, Kellan does, so Shaun has him do CPR on the baby while Shaun tends to the mother. In the end, mother and baby both make it.
Surgery in a Linen Closet?
Sure, why not? This is St. Bonaventure, after all. Remember the guy who needed the bone marrow transplant? His father (who left him and his mother) was the donor, but he was stuck in the ER under the quarantine. So Melendez was trying to figure out a way to extend the quarantine and get the donor and the bone marrow to where they could use it. Dr. Andrews came up with a genius solution—the janitor’s closet and the linen room were negative pressure rooms, so they took the father into the janitor’s closet and got the bone marrow, then sent it down a chute that led to the linen closet, where Melendez and Claire did the transplant. It was a huge success and the guy made it, but sadly the father’s heart stopped after his procedure and he did not make it.
What About Lim? Is She Okay?
Yes, Dr. Lim made it. Hey, did we have any doubts? It was touch and go for a while, and Reznick had to put her on extracopreal life support, but Lim pulled through. Yay! Melendez came to see her once the quarantine was lifted (they discovered that the virus was not airborne after all), and it looks like their relationship is a little more than a one night stand. I like it.
Cancer or Something Else?
If you recall, Dr. Glassman had thought that his cancer was back, but it turned out that he has meningitis and needs immediate surgery. Lea has been with him in Shaun’s place, and they’ve been arguing. Glassy didn’t want to tell Shaun that the cancer might be back, and later doesn’t want to tell Shaun about the meningitis or the surgery, but Lea says that Shaun is an adult and he deserves to know, and that Glassman needs Shaun’s support. Glassy takes Lea’s advice and tells Shaun, who surprisingly handles it very well. He tells Glassman that meningitis is better than cancer. Lea asks Shaun if Glassman can give him a hug, and Shaun agrees to the hug. Aww, so sweet. One other thing, Glassman and Lea, is it just me or does anyone else think there’s a tiny little spark there? I hope not, because that would destroy Shaun, but I don’t know, feels to me like the writers might be considering a relationship between Lea and Glassy.
Did Dr. Park and His Son Mend Things?
Yes, or at least they’ve started to. After a heart to heart between father and son, Park’s ex showed up at the hospital and they all three left together. Maybe Dr. Park will have a second shot at his marriage.
Anything else?
Oh, and Santa Pete pulled through, as well.
I believe that sums it up, and now I feel like I can breathe again.
