Episode 7 of The Crossing aired May 14th, on ABC.
By now you’ve likely heard the sad news, we will not be getting another season—ABC has canceled The Crossing. But you know what? Let’s ride this is on out, and enjoy what time we have left in Port Canaan. Plus, there’s this from the series creator Dan Dworkin:
Mother & Daughter Reunited—Almost
The big story this week was without a doubt Reece and Leah. Leah is all better now, and getting ready to go into town (along with her stuffed bunny) with some of the other refugees, an outing arranged by Lindauer after Jude called the Mayor in to question him about the refugees.
Jude meets Rebecca and Leah and offers to show them around town, since he already knows Leah (he has a plan up his sleeve, of course.) As they walk around, Reece is somewhere out there, watching and waiting for her chance. When Leah goes into a gift shop, Reece’s Russian friend shows up and gives her a pretty postcard with a picture of a whale on the front. She flips it over and there’s some weird writing (apparently APEX has their own language). Luckily, Leah reads APEX. Later, when the trio come to a mural with a whale on it (the same one as on the postcard) Leah asks to use the nearby restroom. Jude and Rebecca let her go in alone. She gets into a stall and seconds later a window in the ceiling above the stall opens up and Reece is there! Reece lifts her daughter out and it was such a sweet moment when mother and daughter are reunited at last.
Reece and Leah take off, but when they round a corner, there’s Jude. Busted. Only it turns out, Jude isn’t trying to stop them, he’s there to help. That’s our Sheriff! Jude helps Leah take the tracking bracelet off her arm, gives them a car, and tells Reece to be careful, and she tells him the same. But neither one of them have been careful enough. Remember the bunny? It had a tracking device that leads Lindauer and his team straight to the motel Reece and Leah are staying at. Reece tries to escape in the car, but Lindauer’s team races behind and causes her to crash. Still, I was thinking our APEX Mama could kick all their asses, but nope, they overtake Reece, zap her with some kind of wicked taser thingie, and then they take a screaming Leah away, as Reece slowly fades out. Damn. That is not how I wanted that to end.
Meanwhile In Town
Nestor arranged for Marshall to give the refugee group a tour of Port Canaan, so that he could talk to Hannah, and try to get inside information about what’s going on at the camp. As a jealous Roy watches, Hannah and Marshall escape together on a boat to go find some privacy. They kiss and hold hands and everything is going great until—Hannah drops the bombshell. Yes, that bombshell. She tells Marshall that she and the others are from the future, and she tells him how she was given the locket with his picture in it before she went into the water and arrived in our time. Marshall suddenly turns into an ass. He doesn’t believe her and gives her the cold shoulder. Looks like Roy might get his chance with Hannah after all.
Back at the Camp
Remember the young girl who has been unresponsive since they arrived? The one who swallowed a bunch of ocean water? I believe her name is Naomi. Well, she’s awake, and it looks like she belongs to the APEX. She had that weird symbol branded onto her skin, and she asks for a marker, which she used to write all over the walls in her cabin—and the words are in APEX. Caleb confronts her later, and from what I can figure out, she’s not an APEX, but they had taken her and branded her as their property. I wonder what it is about Naomi that made them take her, as opposed to killing her, like they did with other humans. Maybe we’ll find out before the show is over.
No word on Sophie, or any final word on Agent Ren, though I’m pretty sure at this point there’s no hope of Ren turning up alive.
