“Save My Show” The Revival Votes Are In!

Save My Show

Winners of our Revival / Save My Show Polling!

Last week I posted a poll asking TV fans to vote for which cancelled show should be “revived.” I knew there were a lot of engaged and devoted fans out there – but I had no idea just how dedicated they were. Over 450,000 votes later, we have some “winners.” We’ll email the results to the respective networks and their PR people – and we hope you’ll share the results with your fellow fans. Keep spreading the word, and we’ll continue to wish all of you and your shows the best of luck!

The Choices

We listed 12 shows total. 11 that were already cancelled, and one still left “on the bubble” that seemed to be leaning towards cancellation. Fans could vote for up to 3 different shows. They were:

Any Surprises?

We weren’t sure what to expect in terms of final results, but there were a few shows that we felt missed out in voting. There’s been a lot of chatter on social media about The Expanse and The Exorcist, but both garnered less than 4,000 votes each. Timeless, while still no decision has been made, received a little more than 13,000 votes – Maybe fans didn’t want to “jinx” the show?

It Wasn’t Russia…

The original plan was to run the poll and release the results the day after it ended. Sometimes the best laid plans just don’t work out. On the final evening of our voting, our website crashed multiple times. Odd considering we can handle A LOT of traffic. After some investigating on our end, we found there were a few users “cheating” and using some pretty sophisticated software to vote for their shows AND prevent other votes from being cast. As an example: At one point in a 2 minute time span, approximately 2,000 votes were cast for one show by the same 2 people, and NONE allowed by anyone else.

We’re pretty disappointed to see that people felt the need to try and “cheat” the system – but at the same time, we get it. You REALLY want your show to have another chance. So rather than disqualify a whole show (or shows) and all the legitimate votes from fans – We went through over half a million votes individually to ensure that every valid vote was counted. (And on a side note: We really appreciate all of you that took the time to vote, share, and promote the polling – overall it was a huge success!)

The Results

Enough chatter… I know you want to know who “won.” And while there is an overall winner in voting, the following top 4 shows deserve some attention because fans came out in droves to support these shows. So, let’s get to it…

# 4 – Scorpion (CBS)

Scorpion on CBS

With 38,070 confirmed votes, Scorpion takes our number four spot. This is actually “extra” impressive, because after the first 24 hours of voting, they were actually in the number nine spot in voting! I reached out to some of the top fans (Kimberly and Kelli) working hard in their renewal efforts for the show and asked a few questions to find out what drives them.

There’s “so many shows” on TV now, what makes Scorpion unique?

Kimberly: The heart of the show is not the casework, it’s not main ships, and it’s not the high intelligence featured in the show. The heart is the familial relationships between each member of the entire team. Scorpion shows not only that it’s okay to be different, but also shows that family is not limited to blood relatives. No matter what happens between Walter, Cabe, Paige, Ralph, Toby, Happy, Sylvester, Callie and Florence, underneath all of the drama and the dilemmas they face, they are all bonded, and we, as fans, feel that bond between them.

Scorpion may be unorthodox and not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think unorthodox, amidst the other shows and what’s happening in the news, is exactly what we need on TV right now.

You started a renewal effort to get Scorpion renewed, what’s motivated you to push this renewal campaign?

Kelli: Prior to the cancellation announcement we were all pushing for a Season 5. In order to direct traffic/messages to CBS I came up “93 Reasons Why Scorpion Should be renewed” (Between Seasons 1-4, 93 episodes of Scorpion aired.http://www.scorpionhq.com/renew/#93ReasonsWhy) Fans started submitting  their reasons right away on why Scorpion should continue. In every tweet we used the hashtag #ScorpionSeason5 and tagged CBS’s social media accounts.

I made a video (https://twitter.com/scorpion_hq/status/991814370752712705?s=21) encouraging fans to keep contacting CBS and with it a letter writing contest (for digital copies of Scorpion) encouraging fans to submit a message directly to CBS.

When the cancellation announcement happened it took me a moment to process it as the show meant a lot to me. For the past few years I’ve been running Scorpion HQ – I made it out of love –  love for the show, cast and crew.

I don’t think anyone thought it could go this way. I hoped for the best & didn’t prepare for the worse. When the news broke, we all came together as a team, a cyclone and started preparations. A big thanks to everyone who jumped right in and a shout out to @SaveScorpion, @WF001Scorpion who have been a big help & @summerozxx who created the petition for Scorpion to be renewed: Save Scorpion Petition

# 3 – Deception (ABC)

Deception on ABC

A show that I didn’t expect to do as well as it did, Deception comes in third place with 41,611 votes! They were in a super tight race with Scorpion, but pulled out all the stops to land at number three! I spoke with the person behind the @Save_Deception twitter account about the renewal efforts:

You’re part of a growing effort to get Deception renewed… What’s motivated you to push this renewal campaign?

Well, the cancellation of Deception came as a bit of a shock, as anyone who watched the show agrees that it should have been renewed. It came just after Fox cancelled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was saved by NBC after a fan campaign. Me and a lot of other fans realised “Hey, if Brooklyn Nine-Nine” got saved by a fan campaign, maybe we could do the same with Deception. As Cameron Black always says, “Nothing’s impossible.”

Why should ABC reconsider their decision or why should another network consider picking up Deception?

Quite simply because it was a premature decision.
Deception barely got a chance. It’s hard to judge the long-term success of a show off of just 9 episodes.
There are still so many subplots they can explore, like how Cameron met the Deception squad, what the mystery woman’s objective is, the relationship between Kay and Cam, whether Johnny gets out of prison… I could keep going if you want.

Basically, the show still has a LOT of potential. The cast is excellent, the plot is on point, and the writing is pretty good too. Move it to a better timeslot and the ratings will soar.

There’s “so many shows” on TV now, what makes Deception unique?

Quite simply because it’s different. Can you name one other show that combines magic and crime so well? Yes, there are so many shows on TV. Very few are as good as Deception. Deception can entertain everyone, from kids who enjoy the tricks (which, incidentally, are real and not VFX) to the people who enjoy watching police procedurals, and everyone in between. It’s fun, humorous and entertaining for the whole family. Don’t believe me? Just watch the pilot episode!

Let’s check out the Top 2 now…

Your TOP 2 Shows!

328,849!

That’s the vote total of our top two shows combined. If that’s not dedication and loyalty to a show – I’m not sure what is. Did I mention that the polling was up for less than 72 hours? That averages out to be over 76 votes PER MINUTE for these 2 shows.

FOX, NBC – You might want to take another look. These fans know how to bring it – And, frankly, deserve another shot.

It was hard to seperate these 2 shows in terms of fan support – The voting was INTENSE and so close. Fans of both of these shows should be proud… They made a statement that was loud, clear, concise, and ultimately – riveting to watch.

# 2 – Lucifer (FOX)

Lucifer on FOX

Wow were these fans on top of it. 160,937 total votes for their show. “Lucifans” are top notch and I see them all over social media working hard to get another season of their show. It was also our top show in votes coming outside of the US. There’s obviously a lot of hardcore fans overseas!

There’s currently a petition going around to help “save Lucifer” – feel free to support their efforts! You can also find them on twitter by searching for the #SaveLucifer #PickUpLucifer hashtags!

# 1 – The Brave (NBC)

The Brave on NBC

When the “Bravers” unite, I’m not sure there’s something they cannot do. This fandom is so hardcore and so dedicated – I’ve witnessed them put together campaigns for renewal in an hour’s notice. They came out full force voting for their favorite show and took the top spot with 167,912 total votes. (A 6,975 vote difference between our top spots!)

They have multiple fan websites (The Brave Fan Site and Renew The Brave)and a petition that’s been going for a while. You can sign it here.

Follow along with their renewal efforts on social media by searching for the hashtags #RedeployTheBrave and #TheBrave!

THANK YOU!

One more time – I want to thank all the fans for their time and their votes. It’s always a long shot when trying to get a cancellation decision changed, but you’ve all got very strong campaigns – And we wish you all the very best! Feel free to update us with your renewal efforts and we’ll try to help spread the word!
