‘Motherland: Fort Salem’ recap “Coup”

Disney Enterprises

Soldiers are out on a mission and find dead refugees in a field. Their bodies make a pentagram and their vocal cords were cut.

Back at Salem, Tally is concerned about what happened at the citydrop. She can still feel the victims’ pain and is upset that General Alder lied about it. Tally asks Abigail to ask her mother what they should do as this may be above the chain of command. Abigail’s mother disregards Tally’s concerns until Raelle rats out Scylla. General Bellweather did not know about Scylla and dismisses them.

Anacostia wants to keep Scylla and try to get her to play a double agent. Alder, of course, hates the idea and wants Scylla in prison. Anacostia tells Scylla this but also bargains with her. Information to see Raelle again. Too bad Raelle wants nothing to do with Scylla.

Abigail gives Libba’s eulogy but instead of reading a standard one, she speaks from the heart. Later that night, while the girls and Adil reminisce over Libba, Tally gets a booty call from Gerit. Hilary catches them, and instead of getting mad, she offers to join them. It turns out that Hilary knows about them and compromised with a threesome every now and then.

Madam president visits Alder and their discussion heats up after she brings up Scylla. Alder is in trouble and is forcibly retiring. General Bellweather is in line to be the leader. Adil tells Abigail what happened with the refugees and that Khalida wants to go home without Alder’s help.

Raelle agrees to see Scylla but the greeting is very cold. Scylla begs but Raelle doesn’t believe her. Scylla even says she chose her over her duty because she fell for her.

When Madam President goes to make her announcement, she hears a weird buzzing. Alder takes over her body and makes her speech for her, making sure she stays in charge.

Anacostia apologizes to Raelle and Raelle confesses to telling General Bellweather about Scylla. Anacostia then tells the unit about Alder puppeting the president and that they may be in great danger.

We better find out if Alder’s secret is revealed by the end of the season! And why are the biddies ok with what she is doing? I want to shout ‘Spree!’ but I’m having a weird guilty flashback to the Salem Witch Trials…
