TV FANS VOTED: The Baker and the Beauty, Council of Dads, Bosch… Clearly Need To Continue

The Baker and the Beauty

THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY - "May I Have This Dance?/You Can't Always Get What You Want" - During the first hour of the two-hour season finale of ABC's "The Baker and the Beauty," Daniel and Noa reconnect after a falling out, but Daniel's desire to have a normal life keeps coming between them. Meanwhile, Natalie hopes her quincea–era celebration can mend the growing rift between Rafael and Mari and reunite the entire family. In the second hour, Noa makes a seemingly erratic decision about her career as Daniel is approached about an opportunity that would force him to step away from the family business. Back at home, Rafael and Mari discuss the bakery's legacy as they are faced with a life-altering decision. The two-hour season finale of ABC's "The Baker and the Beauty" airs MONDAY, JUNE 1 (9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/Kenneth Rexach) CARLOS GîMEZ

Fan Voting Is Over – We Have The Winners!

Last week we put up a fan poll asking television watchers to choose the shows that must continue and/or get a second chance. Polling is now over, and after 24,976 votes, we have some winners to announce! There were 25 different shows to choose from – Let’s see who did well – and who didn’t…

A Clear Winner – The Baker and the Beauty

As expected, ABC’s The Baker and the Beauty was the clear winner with over 11,000 votes cast.  ABC recently canceled this show and fans, as well as various celebrities, have shown up all over social media demanding a reversal in the decision. A recent petition has over 132,000 signatures hoping the network changes their minds, or another network swoops in to save the day.

In today’s world, a quality written show that focuses on love, diversity, and inclusion – it should be on the air. What the heck was ABC thinking?

Prediction: This show may just continue… With the backlash across social media – it’s got a real chance of getting a reprieve from the cancellation graveyard. Either ABC reverses course, or a streaming service like Peacock picks it up.

2nd Place – Council of Dads

Here’s a show that hasn’t even received their marching orders, but since it is obviously on the bubble, we allowed it to stay in the polling. With over 9,300 votes – fans showed up big to send the message to NBC that this show must continue! They also have a petition available online and fans have been very vocal across social media asking this show to receive a second season.

Interestingly, another family story of love and diversity – Will NBC make the same mistake ABC did?

Prediction: Between being a good show with a great cast and the backlash seen from canceling this type of show – I think the fans have been loud enough and they’ll see a season 2 announcement in the coming weeks.

Finishing the Top 3: Bosch

One of Amazon’s best original shows, Bosch just released their 6th season about 8 weeks ago – AND – announced season 7 would be the last. Based on the best-selling books by Michael Connelly, fans obviously haven’t had enough and they don’t want season 7 to be the end. They also have an online petition, and although it hasn’t had as much traction – that’s probably because fans know they have one more season coming.

Another show with a fantastic cast, great writing, and intriguing stories – the only reason this show shouldn’t continue is the potential cost going into 8 seasons and beyond. Consider Amazon is going to spend over a billion dollars to create a Lord of the Rings series – I think they have the money to keep going.

Prediction: I don’t see Amazon changing their minds on this one, but with the possibility of them grabbing up the rights to The Lincoln Lawyer series – it could make sense to continue ALL of Connelly’s stories.

Some Shockers/Disappointments

Out of the gate, Perfect Harmony votes started pretty strong and I expected it to land in the top 5 at a minimum. It actually ended up just outside of that in 6th place – and still believe it’s a shame there will be no more.

Bluff City Law landed in 5th place – which surprised me.  I thought it might contend for the top 3 – although I may be biased because I enjoyed the Jimmy Smits legal/family drama.

I guessed Sunnyside would land at the bottom of the pack… but it didn’t. (It was close – but still wasn’t last place.)  Another NBC show, The InBetween, received .1% of the vote. That’s point-one percent.  That show, although not great, should have done better than Sunnyside at least!

Fingers Crossed!

Good luck to: The Baker and the Beauty, Council of Dads, Bosch
