The Walking Dead Episode 14: Look At The Flowers

Well, the cat is out of the bag. Carol let Negan out to kill Alpha. Beta isn’t taking it well, and Carol seems to be on a downward spiral. Let’s see what the newest episode brought to the table.

Carol

Well, what’s there to say? Carol asked Negan to kill Alpha in return for her winning him a place as a citizen in Alexandria. She lied. The minute she got Alpha’s head and placed it on a pike, she asked Negan why it took so long and took off on her own. Dammit Carol, stop betraying everyone.

On her trip of solitude, her inner voice, or as we see it, Alpha, keeps hounding her. It brings up Sophia, Lizzie, Mika, Henry, and even Ed. I am not a fan of Carol, but she didn’t deserve that.

Saving Herself

After getting trapped in an abandoned house, she has two decisions, let a walker bite her and end the pain or try to move forward. Not to anyone’s surprise, she chooses to fight and ends up killing the walker. The last thing we see is her entering the gates of Alexandria, where neither her or Daryl speak to each other.

“Caryl” fans probably went crazy during this episode since Negan and Alpha brought up her and Daryl being a couple. In my opinion, Daryl is better with Connie, who I hope will be found alive.

Speaking of Daryl, let’s see what he and Negan are up to.

Negan

Well, Negan is downright pissed that Carol betrayed him and expected him to kill Alpha any faster than he was able to. He goes to find Lydia in the cabin he stashed her in but finds Daryl and his crossbow instead. Now Daryl asks him why he didn’t do things faster as well, which makes no sense to me. Obviously, neither he or Carol know anything about espionage and infiltration and making someone trust you.

As for Daryl, he doesn’t trust Negan at first. He really doesn’t trust him when he takes Negan to the place they put Alpha’s head, and it’s gone. After three Whisperers take Daryl hostage and call Negan their Alpha, he really gets pissed. But in wonderful Negan fashion, he tricks everyone and kills the three Whisperers.

Negan even admits to Daryl that he liked feeling like a part of something again with the Whisperers, but he would never condone the murder of children. I think when he found out the kids were in Hilltop, he felt guilty for the first time. After a cute little conversation they head out, Daryl is sick of waiting for Carol.

I don’t think he trusts her at all anymore and honestly who would. And the weirdest part of the episode belongs to Beta.

Beta

After finding Alpha’s head and talking to it, yes, I said talking to it, he let it bite one of the other Whisperers. After which he goes to an old bar. It turns out Beta was a country singer that went by the name Half Moon (a hint dropped in Fear The Walking Dead).

He ends up playing his album loud, drawing walkers, and ends up cutting off half of Alpha’s face and using it as part of his mask. This had to be the creepiest this show has gotten yet. I’m sure it’s not done, though.

And Then There Was Princess

I am hurting inside because we see that the cancer is affecting Ezekiel real bad as he, Eugene, and Yumiko go to meet Stephanie. I don’t want Ezekiel to die, but it’s looking worse by the minute. Anyway, the three of them find a town where the walkers have been chained down and dressed up in different outfits.

This makes Ezekiel finally smile and actually laugh. After looking around, the group runs into a woman who calls herself Princess. She is a big ball of energy and can’t wait to know more about her.

Ending Thoughts

The episode itself was like a filler. Not very exciting or interesting except for the interaction between Daryl and Negan.

Next week’s episode will be the last for a while as the production of the season finale was halted due to the quarantine brought on by the Covid-19 virus.
