Crossing Episode 2

The Crossing Episode 8 aired May 28th, on ABC.

Things are coming to a dangerous head in Port Canaan.

Three big stories this week:

Agent Emma & A Setup

Well, the question has finally been answered, Agent Ren is indeed dead. Her body conveniently turned up at the camp. Jude is called in (orders from the top) and Homeland does a search of the camp for the gun, which they find in Paul’s cabin (also conveniently). Jude is then ordered out of the camp. Our Sheriff is no dummy, he spots the said convenience of his being there to witness the body and the finding of the gun. Unbeknownst to the others, he also found Emma’s key fob which has all the information of where she went last. Hmm … okay, you’d think if these guys were smart enough to place her body in the camp and plant the gun in one of the cabins, that they’d be smart enough to search Emma’s pockets before they left her there. Oh, well. Homeland takes Paul out in handcuffs, but Jude tells him he believes him that he didn’t do it, and he gives him his card so that Paul can call him.

Paul is then reunited with his wife, evil redheaded lady. There are hugs and tears (the tears all being Paul’s), and some weird information about the time lapse—it’s been ten years our time since the first group came, but for Paul and the others it was only two months. Evil redhead says that they must have messed something up when they came through. She convinces Paul to make a video, where he pretends to be some kind of a cult leader, telling him that it’s too dangerous for them if others know the real truth about who they are and where they’re from. But of course evil redhead is playing Paul—she and Lindauer later talk about their real plan. They’re going to kill all the refugees and make it look like a cult ritual suicide. And Paul’s video confession will play perfectly into that.

Look Who Else Turned Up

Dr. Sophie Forbin. She’s in bad shape, still in a hospital. But Lindauer arrives and makes her a deal—he needs her to help him get blood from Reece, who is strapped down to a table but has gone into some kind of a dormant state, a protective mechanism which prevents them from being able to get her DNA. He convinces Sophie that if she helps, he will let her carry out her research there in the lab, and this might help her to save herself. But of course Lindauer is lying, he knows Sophie is dying and doesn’t expect her to make it much longer.

Sophie agrees, and she gets the blood from Reece, who is now awake and alert (but still strapped down), and promises to come back for her. When Sophie tries to leave, Lindauer searches her bag to make sure she isn’t sneaking anything out—but our girl is smart, she snuck Reece’s blood out in a hidden compartment in her walking cane. Will she use it? I don’t know. Reece warned her that only 7 percent of the population have the genetic marker that makes them a candidate for APEX, and that if she doesn’t have the marker and uses the blood, it will kill her. I’m betting Sophie has the marker.

A Prophet Amongst Us

Back at the camp, Rebecca is upset with Caleb and we find out that their daughter was taken by APEX, and Rebecca and Caleb had to leave her. Very troubled, Rebecca goes to see Naomi, who was also taken by the APEX. Rebecca asks her why the APEX wanted them, and after some explanations, Naomi tells Rebecca that back where they came from, she was a servant, but here, she is a Prophet. She’s getting a group of people together, and Rebecca joins in.

Destiny

Roy and Hannah share some apple pie, and Roy asks her to explain about the locket with Marshall’s picture inside. Poor Hannah tries yet again to tell someone the truth, and Roy responds pretty much the same way Marhsall did, with disbelief. Hanna offers him our favorite quote: “A lof of things will become possible.”

Roy must have been at least somewhat convinced because he pays Marshall a visit. He asks if he believes in destiny, to which Marshall answers no. Roy hands him the locket and says that maybe he should start.

The Story Comes to An End

The final episode airs June 4th, 10/9, on ABC. UPDATE: There will be a 2 hour Finale Saturday, June 9th. For those of us who loved The Crossing, it’s bittersweet. But keep in mind that series creator Dan Dworkin said that this show was designed to tell a complete story in this first (and as it turns out, only) season. So hopefully we will get some closure next week and all the threads will be tied up.

Please share you thoughts. What questions would you like to see answered in the final episode?
