Proven Innocent Episode 12

Family should always have our backs right? Well what if they don’t? What if they stab us in our backs for their own safety? What do we do?

Madeline Scott is facing all these questions in this weeks season finale of Proven Innocent. What led us to this point? Let’s find out shall we.

First let’s look at the cases leading up to now.

Davon Watkins:

Who is on death row for killing a cop…

Even though there is plenty of evidence to prove he didn’t do it, he is still convicted and sentenced to death.

Being that the true killer is on death row already, it should’ve been open and shut, but something happened on his way out – he was stabbed to death leading to a…

Stay of execution

The team got a stay of execution for Devon, but it wasn’t enough.

Before Madeline and her team could free him, the drugs used in the states legal injections were coming close to their expiration date and they put Devon back on death row. Before they could do anything, Devon was executed giving the team their first major loss.

Cindy Whitman

A trans-women found guilty of murdering a friend of hers.

Turns out Cindy didn’t do it and the real murderer was caught and Cindy walked free.

Rachel Clarke

A navy seal charged with the murder. The murder weapon was found in her locker.

Turns out the real murderer was another seal protecting himself. The man she killed was going to spill secrets of a mission gone bad and he wanted to stop it.

Another win for Team Freedom.

Gabrielle Parcell

Convicted of shaking her baby to death.

With new science to back her up and the testimony of her step-son she was found innocent. Turns out it was an accident and her mother in law hid it to protect the family name. Oh and she had abused her grandson and her son.

But there’s more to the show then those who they save, what about the people themselves?

The people at the Wrongful Conviction Lawfirm

Easy Boudreau

He is now separated from his wife. Although He didn’t go into detail on why, I’m guessing it was his long hours

Violet Bell

She got a job offer from the head of NPR but turned it down feeling her true place was with the law firm.

Bodie Quick

Reconnected with Nikki and finds out she is taking care of her sisters son Nathan.

Levi Scott

He is continuing to try to solve Rosemary’s murder. He finds out that Rosemary, Linda, Heather and Sara were part of a sex cult.

Gore Bellows

Finally got what he wanted, an ace in the hole.

Finding the murder weapon, a lantern he talks Heather into saying she recognized the lantern as Madeline’s.

Now onto In Defense of Madeline Scott PT.1

With the finding of the lantern, Madeline is arrested.

But the firm’s work is never done. Easy, on top of proving Madeline’s innocence, again, has a case helping a dreamer named Hector Costa.

Hector Costa

Hector finds himself in jail for four years when he is convicted of killing his favorite teacher.

Before things can move forward though, Hector is arrested by ICE and put on a deportation list back to El Salvador.

A child in court

At what has become a normal scene in the real world, we see a four year old being asked questions about lawyers and his rights.

The child is scared and confused. Thankfully Easy, who was there for Hector, stepped in and helped the child out.

This show has a way of depicting real world issues while driving their own story.

Who really killed the teacher

After some great detective work and a lot of driving hours put in by Bodie, it is discovered that it is actually the husband who killed his wife and Hector is set free.

The Case of Madeline Scott

After getting her girlfriend Wren back in her life, Madeline finds herself back in prison.

Thankfully for her though, her supporters raised enough money and she is released on bail. It’s all smiles until Easy is only given three days to find evidence therefore ruining the happy moment.

Levi

At the beginning of the episode Levi is no where to be found. Bellows lets us know after trying to give Madeline a plea of 20yrs that Levi is their star witness. He also drops the bomb Levi is in protective custody.

I am really hoping that Levi is playing Bellows. Why go through all the trouble to help his sister and then backstab her. Either he really doesn’t want to go back to jail or he has a plan.

Not everyone on Bellows side is happy

At least the snake named Isabele Sanchez got what was coming to her.

Karma bit her in the ass and Bellows fired her. He said that she might ruin their whole case if Levi recognizes her in court and reminds her he got her out of obscurity and can put her right back in.

Now Isabel rightfully looked pissed. I sure hope that she is one who helps bring down Bellows in the end.

Madeline Scott

Madeline who is betrayed by her own brother, dealing with her feelings for Wren and on the verge of going back to jail, is actually holding up pretty well.

Don’t save me

She lets the team know that if she loses, that they are to continue their work and not fight for her.

I think this shows that Madeline has grown since episode one as she is thinking of others and not just herself.

Who killed Rosemary Lynch?

Was it really Madeline?

We know that she didn’t get up to help search for Rosemary when she disappeared.

Levi said she looked out of it, leading me to believe that she could have been drugged by the cult leader, Ravi.

We know that Rosemary was trying to get Madeline to join and maybe he gave her date rape drugs to put in Madeline’s drink.

Heather Husband

We found out she was really jealous of the attention Rosemary got from Ravi. Therefore, When he didn’t show the night of the party, she saw her opening.

My money is on Heather.

Or maybe Levi

Levi found out that being arrested with your sister for a murder you didn’t commit, isn’t very fun.

Even though Levi argues he’s innocent, the revelation of his infatuation with Rosemary in addition to his trip to see her, leads the audience into believing that he was guilty.

And as much as I would like to label him the killer, I really don’t think he did it.

Could it have been Sara or Linda

Both Sara and Linda have been the odd card.

Sara swears she believes that Levi and Madeline are innocent and is quick to want to testify even though at first she acted like it would destroy her.

Linda seems to not know what side to take though in the end she agrees to testify on Madeline’s behalf.

Therefore, with no real motive, I don’t believe that either one is the killer.

Will the mysterious Ravi turn up alive?

I have a good feeling that Ravi is alive and well.

Maybe Rosemary was having second thoughts? Maybe she threatened to tell everyone about him?

We know nothing about him except he was drugging and having sex with teenage girls.

In conclusion

As we come to the end, along with the high possibility we won’t get a second season, which I hope I’m wrong about, the season finale better be  explosive.

But when all is said and done, it has been one hell of a ride with a lot of pain, feeling and truth and I can’t wait to finally learn:

Who killed Rosemary Lynch?

The season finale airs Friday May 10 at 9/8c on Fox.
