Renew The Brave?
If you’re familiar with us – you know we cover NBC’s The Brave pretty extensively. We do a weekly “after-the-episode” radio show to discuss the show as well as some written content. (I’ll include a link to our radio show below.) It also won our fan voting poll for “Best New Fall 2017 Show!” We’d love to see a second season of Dalton and his team, thus we feel it’s appropriate (and important) to share the “Renew The Brave” information.
The Campaign
If you’re interested in “accepting the mission” to help the show – Head on over to www.renewthebrave.com. Created by fans, the site has information on how you can do your part. Watching live, contacting NBC, and a renewal petition are some of the methods to their madness. And frankly – we hope it succeeds!
Really in danger?
So why is there a push for renewal? Are the ratings bad? Do people dislike the show? Is it possible the show won’t return? All good questions… Here are some of my thoughts and answers:
The ratings are okay. They’re not stellar, but they’re also not terrible. Averaging 1.03 in demo and almost 5.1 million live viewers – it ranks in the top 10 of new TV shows. I’ll admit that I haven’t done a ton of research on their +3/+7 numbers, but with all the fan support I see across social media, i’m going to assume they’re pretty decent. It should be enough to earn renewal consideration from NBC. And speaking of fan support – People speak really well about the show. It’s a consistent trend on social media – a pretty important and key metric when discussing additional seasons.
An Ugly Rumor
Rumors of cancellation started before the first episode even aired and have swirled even more with the realization that The Brave was only given a 13 episode first season. While that may seem like a bad omen, consider this… NBC has Olympic coverage starting in February! How can you have 20 or more episodes when figure skaters will be taking center stage? You (unfortunately) can’t – and that’s why they got the green-light for only 13 episodes. Don’t listen to rumors…They’re just that…rumors.
Can fans really make a difference?
Absolutely. It’s nearly impossible to alter a network’s decision after it’s been made – but quite possible to make your mark before the final choice has been made. So, if you love The Brave, head on over to www.renewthebrave.com and let your voice be heard. I feel pretty good about the show’s chances, but as they say – leave no stone unturned.
