Killjoys Season 5 Episode 1
Killjoys is back for its fifth and final season. And the first episode was not a disappointment.
The Lady has won
All over old Westerly everything is off.
Everyone is not themselves. And the way they keep them from remembering is to Re establish the brainwashing every time there’s a slip.
By having people think they need to go through quarantine showers. That jolts the brainwashing into place
Also, Zeph finds out the rain is also doing the job
First What’s Different
Johnny and Yala (Dutch) are married. Which I am totally ok with. And they think Jaq is their son. They also own The Royale and Johnny works at a factory.
D’avin is a Killjoy. That follows the law to the T and is looking for Jaq as he got a fake mission from the lady.
Pree is a manly Rac agent, with hair. I love beautiful Pree, but bad ass Rac agent looks good on him too.
Gavin is a closeted gay man with a fiancé. And has a warrant on him.
Zeph is a street urchin who is trying to find the truth about everything. Because things aren’t sitting right with her. And she is very in love with Dutch.
Turin sells wares on the side of the street.
What’s The Same
Lucy has her memories, though they’ve tried to erase them. Kendry has her memories and is taking care of her and D’avins son.
Khylen is still the same. Although I’m not sure how he’s alive – and is imprisoned by the lady who is a little kid now.
The Lady starts to lose her grip
All is fine with the ladies plan until D’avin walks into the Royale looking for Jaq. As he believes he’s been stolen from a Qresh boarding school.
When he asks Yala about him, she lies says she doesn’t know him and knocks him out.
After that she tells Johnny everything and they go to D’avin’s ship which happens to be Lucy to find out why he wants their son.
It isn’t long before D’avin shows up and after a hilarious moment with Johnny trying to figure out – the truth comes out.
They believe a Qresh boarding school came and took Jaq because he had high marks in school.
Lucy finds her man
After D’avin says he wants to interview them individually. Johnny decides he will go back to the bar.
On his way out, Lucy talks to him which jogs his memories. This makes his wrist thing go off telling him he’s “contaminated” and needs to go through the showers – and he passes out.
We learn from Zeph later those read stress levels. Apparently, when they get too high, it sets off the bracelets making people go to the showers and they get re-brainwashed.
Questioning Yala
Trying to get as much information from Yala as he can, he uses a memory machine.
It all moves too fast, but I believe it starts waking her up.
It’s not until she touches D’avin that she starts to have memories of them. Since she doesn’t understand what’s going on, she walks out.
Finding Johnny
On her way out, she finds Johnny on the floor with his bracelet going off and takes him to the showers.
A kiss that goes wrong
Setting up a romantic dinner for him and Yala, the plan is to fix their breaking down marriage.
Johnny puts his foot in his mouth, but they still kiss. Which brings back more memories in Dutch. Making her say that it was all wrong and runs off into a side room.
Johnny doesn’t seem that emotionally bothered by this.
Finding the red box
Going to the bed in the room, Dutch finds one of Khylens boxes. Which sparks memories and sets off the wristband.
But someone has locked her in and she cannot get to the contamination showers.
Thus her memories stick.
We never find out who locked her in, but I’m guessing it was Khylen.
Telling Johnny
When she tries to tell Johnny the truth, he just laughs it off and thinks she’s playing kinky games. The lady really has him.
Spotting Zeph
Seeing Zeph in the bar, she follows her. And finds out after chasing her down. That she’s been following the scientific readings of old Westerly and found out about the brain washing.
This is also where Dutch finds out the showers and wrist bands .
And that Zeph finds her hot. Which I hope sticks once Zeph gets her memories.
Playing Dumb
Pretending she doesn’t remember anything. Her and Johnny go with D’avin to find Kendri. Since he saw her in Dutches memory.
Finding Kendri
After they enter the building Dutch finds Kendri first. Who tells her that her and Jaq have been working on a plan.
Running into Jaq
Davin of course runs into Jaq who like the kid he is, calls him dad. And accuses of him of not remembering. Though he said he always would
I love how Jaq acts like a normal child.
Back home
After Jaq leaves with Kendri they all go back to old Westerly. And Johnny having mixed emotions about Jaq leaving with Kendri.
He also while they were out talked about how hot Davin was. And Dutch got a kiss from Kendri.
Trying to get back memories
After leaving Zeph with the red box and telling her that she’s her fail safe. Which makes Zeph happy and hoping it’s a sexual innuendo.
Going to Lucy
Going to Lucy she tells her it’s ok to talk. And that’s when Lucy tells her about he back up memory.
Dutch asks her where the boys are hiding their secrets
Three guys at a bar
D’avin, Johnny and Pree are having a great time with each other, as Dutch comes in with things to jog their memory.
For Pree a recording of him singing
For Johnny his ring from when he married Pawter.
And D’avins dog tags
But just as their getting their memories back they run out into the rain trying to get to the decontamination showers which Dutch shut down.
Zeph back where she is realizes the rain has the same affect. Making Pree, D’avin and all soldiers start going after her and Zeph, who had gone there to tell her about the rain.
Just as Dutch tells Zeph she’s a badass. She gets shot. And Dutch is left trying to heal her. Luckily she got to Zephs bunker
Khylen
We find out Khylen is being held prisoner by the pint sized lady. And knows that no matter what she does his girls will stop her.
Final thoughts
I went into this super bummed knowing that it’s ending… But so far it’s proving that it will go out with a bang. Though I’m still really sad it’s the last season – I’m excited to see what they bring!
