Cloak and Dagger is BACK!

Cloak and Dagger is finally back and I couldn’t be happier. Freeform gave us double the episodes for the premiere so let’s jump right in.

The Return

Its been eight months show time since we last saw Tyrone Played by Aubrey Joseph and Tandy Played by Olivia Holt.

Tyrone

Tyrone has been living alone in the church. He hasn’t been able to talk to his parents or Evita.

Loneliness

Due to him being on the run since he is wanted for the murder of Agent Connors.

But, Tandy comes over for movie nights to keep him from going to stir crazy.

Trouble

While trying to help stop a local gang, Tyrone gets himself into more trouble by causing a gang war.

Trying to Fix that problem

MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER – “Restless Energy” (Freeform/Alfonso Bresciani)
AUBREY JOSEPH, OLIVIA HOLT

Tyrone asks Tandy to help him fix the problem he caused with the gangs.

They share a cute moment holding in hands “waffle” style as Tandy put it.

Yes, if they don’t put these two together I’m going to blow something up.

Back to the show now.

Anyway, things go south and everyone in the meeting Tyrone was trying to record gets killed by a mysterious person.

As they run though, Tyrone sees a symbol he recognizes and that brings him back to the one place he’s really wanted to ditch, Auntie Chantelle’s, Played by Angela Davis.

The Loa

Tyrone goes to Chantelle and learns about the Loa. They are like the Greek Gods or Catholic Saints but for the Voodoo religion.

She tells him the symbol he saw is called a Verve and that is an invocation to ask the Loa associated with it a question.

We learn that it’s for a Goddess of death and the seeker might have been asking for revenge or guidance in death.

Chantelle starts drawing another Verve and when asked what it was for she said asking for help and that’s when Evita walks in.

The pissed off girlfriend

Evita, Played Noelle Bercy, let’s lose on Tyrone and I was glad to see her get angry. I was worried she was just going to forgive him.

Tyrone, in an attempt to calm her down, shows her his power. This makes her more angry as his excuse for having to hide went out the window since he could vanish and reappear.

Reunion

I know it’s a show on a station the strives for drama, I don’t want Evita with Tyrone but that’s where we are.

Evita, who has calmed down comes to see Tyrone and helps him with his Verve.

With her help, he is able to draw it correctly and manages to disappear and reappear with another person.

This is big because he hasn’t been able to do that until now which caused him not to be able to help a woman in need.

The Hospital

Tyrone is glad to see the woman safe in the hospital and him and Evita share a kiss as she tells him to stay safe.

Which now leads us to

Tandy

We see right off the bat that she has reconnected with her mom and started up ballet again.

Both of them are even in counseling for women who has a history of being abused.

Getting bored

We can see from her actions that she has become bored and agitated about not being able to do anything since the big battle. But in comes Makayla.

Makayla

Makayla, Played by Cecilia Leal, is another member of Tandy’s therapy group.

Looking to help

deciding she wants to help Makayla, who’s been staying with her friend after leaving her abusive boyfriend.

Tandy goes to his house and writes “leave her alone” while he is passed out drunk on his wall.

Though the lying scumbag told Makayla he got attacked by a group of gangsters and they did the damage. He had even made the words unreadable.

Tandy becomes unhinged

After hearing Makayla’s admission of wanting to go back, she explodes and tells her she has a choice to leave or not cause Makayla to run out of the therapy group.

Seeking help

After confronting the boyfriend and learning Makayla didn’t go home and was missing, she went to ask Lia, Played by Ditshad Vadsaria, for help.

After a standoff with Lia, she meets Andre Deschaine, Played by Brooklyn Mclinn, who works with the outreach program.

Looking for Makayla and a life lesson

While heading to a shelter that Makayla might’ve gone to, Tandy learns that André started working with the outreach program because of his experiences with pain.

He told her that when he realized there was people in more pain than him, he wanted to help others.

When he asks her what her pain is, Tandy sees her dad running towards her and her powers fluctuate causing the street light to explode and she runs.

Missing Girls

Seeing a bunch of women gathered around a pole with pictures of missing girls on them, she become’s unnerved.

When Andre catches up with her, she asks him why it isn’t all over the news.

And in comes the one thing this show is good at, making harsh realities as plain as day.

He tells her if it was her, a white girl, that it would be but since it’s poor brown girls that they don’t care.

Finding Makayla

After a moment to reflect on that, Andre gets a call from Lia saying they found Makayla but she’s in the hospital and in stable condition after overdosing on heroin.

The Ambulance’s

After touching Makayla and learning she had been in a strange ambulance across from a liquor store.

Asking the admitting doctor who brought her in, the guy said it was some jerk from a private ambulance company who wouldn’t sign the paperwork even.

Finding the ambulance

She finds the liquor store and as she tries to head in she is approached by none other than Detective Brigid O’ Reilly Played by Emma Lahane.

Detective Brigid O’ Reilly

We learn that Brigid is having a hard time getting back to her normal self after Connors shot and pushed her into the water.

She has been recovering from a shoulder injury and still isn’t able to shoot well though we don’t know if it’s all physical or some mental.

Covering for Tandy and Tyrone

We learn they call Brigid for help when they find the dead bodies in the back of the club.

After yelling at the two, she tells them to leave. Then using a pay phone and gloves calls a hotline to report the bodies.

At the bar

Having called in the bodies at the club, obviously feeling down, we see Brigid at the bar getting drunk.

As she stumbles out and gets sick, we see another her in the puddle telling her that she is weak and now it’s her turn.

Confident Brigid

A more confident Brigid enters the crime scene at the club and lays out the whole scene of what happened.

Now, I am suspecting that Brigid had something to do with those people dying.

Anyway, after telling the other cops off and talking to the wife of one of the dead drug dealers, finding out that he was allowing a private ambulance company to park in a lot across from his liquor store, she ends up at the same place as Tandy.

Finding the ambulance

Working together, they find the driver who had dropped off Makayla at the hospital and approach.

He runs and gets into his ambulance where Brigid cuts him off in her car.

Turning around, he drives towards Tandy, who with memories of her dad rushing at her and Makayla’s abusive ex running through her mind she summons a light ball and causes the ambulance to crash.

Brigid tells her to keep watch for others and she would handcuff and get the guy in her car after he told them all he knew, which wasn’t much.

After she leaves though, Brigid says she believes him and with her nail. Slices open his neck killing him.

Brigid and Tyrone?

MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER – “White Lines” – (Freeform/Alfonso Bresciani)
AUBREY JOSEPH

The writers threw a huge curveball with this one.

Tyrone and Brigid appear out of nowhere in.

We learn that Tyrone had found Brigid tied up in her house.

Confused, the three of them run to where she had left Brigid and found the dead driver and “psycho Brigid” as I’m calling her right now.

In Conclusion

I really enjoyed the first two episodes of the new season.

That ending was just amazing. I didn’t see that coming making it even more intriguing.

I’m not a fan of the fact they’ve continued the Evita and Tyrone relationship but hopefully the “divine paring” find their way to each other both in a working sense and a relationship sense.

I can’t wait to find out what the writers have in store for us this season.
