Cloak and Dagger Episode 9

Cloak and Dagger (Freeform/Alfonso Bresciani) AUBREY JOSEPH, OLIVIA HOLT

Cloak and Dagger Episode 9

Last time on Cloak and Dagger:

With help from Evita, Tandy and Brigit head into the “cloak” world to save Tyrone.

Meeting up with Mayhem

Brigit comes to terms with Mayhem and lets her be the one running the show, essentially becoming one person once again.

I’m thinking this won’t go well in the final episode but we shall see. It’s a good metaphor for accepting both are light and dark sides.

Also, the discussion about their father and the way you can see one event in multiple ways was amazingly good.

Throwback

(Freeform/Alfonso Bresciani)
BROOKLYN MCLINN

Tandy and Tyrone fight through a video game based on the comic series until they get to the hotel.

Tandy backs out when they have to fight Andre but tells Tyrone there’s a lot of people who love him and don’t want to lose him, including her.

Even though he doesn’t want to lose anymore, Tandy tells him that she would rather lose a million times with him then alone.

I am so excited for more Tandy and Tyrone scenes because they should end up together.

Marriage

Evita, with guidance from her aunties spirit, agrees to marry the Loa of death, Baron Samedi (played by guest star Justin Sams) and becomes a mambo in exchange for Tyrone’s life.

Adina Johnson

Adina will do anything for her family and she committed the ultimate sin, she killed Agent Conners, not that he didn’t deserve it.

Though he did give her everything she wanted, he was still a serpent and we don’t know what he would’ve done.

Taking the information to Father Delgado, she asks him to take it to the FBI since he is a priest and has a confidentiality clause.

Melissa Bowen

Tandy goes home with flowers for her mom and only finds empty beer bottles and an empty bottle of medicine.

In another touching scene, Tyrone appears and says they will get Andre together.

Now onto Episode 9: Blue Note

We are at the Penultimate episode and Tandy and Tyrone are fighting the same war on different turfs.

Finding Lia

Tandy and Mayhem found Lia in the middle of a field, comatose after being drained by Andre to stop his headaches .

Tandy tells mayhem that after they find out what Lia knows she going to kill Lia.

Mayhem doesn’t really believe her but leaves it alone.

Name drop

The coolest part of this episode was when Tyrone was talking to Soloman, and they talked about Luke Cage looking like them and being a bulletproof super hero.

The article they were looking at was about Luke Cage in the Brooklyn Rumble and it was written by Daredevils Karen Page.

I know it’s not much, but this gives me more hope that Marvel is going to bring back all the Netflix shows when they can.

Taking down the gangs

Tyrone kicks ass here. With Solomon’s help he sets up a meeting with the leaders of the Money Hustle Gang and the Uptown Block Gang.

The meeting actually ends up the way Tyrone said it would. They tried to ambush him but he was quicker.

A chat on the roof

This was hilarious. While chatting with the leaders, he told told them that if they only sold to users who used and not people who force others like rapists and traffickers, he would let them be.

When they tried to argue he threw them off the roof and then caught them before they hit the ground, this tactic worked very well to instill fear into both men.

I am thoroughly enjoying Tyrone’s take no shit attitude.

The Blue Note

Andre is seeking the Blue Note, the note in Blues music that makes you a musical god, and for him, an actual god.

In a way that was supposedly to make us feel bad for Andre, which it didn’t for me, we learned that he tried to commit suicide after his migraines caused him not to play music anymore.

But the Roxxon rig exploded and saved him but brought about something else.

While he was in the hospital, he met Lia who we learn wanted to be a musician but became a nurse instead for her father. Lia became his first victim and since he couldn’t get enough brought her in to help gather more.

The Divine Pairing

Back at the church, Tyrone and Tandy go into Lia’s sub consciousness since there were doors for just Tyrone and just Tandy.

They find a young Lia at a violin recital and Tandy asks to borrow her music book to help a friend.

We never see what that book is for so hopefully the finale episode brings it back.

Mayhem vs. Dagger

When Tyrone goes to get information about Andre’s location, Tandy has to protect Lia from Mayhem who says she deserves it.

Tandy says Lia was a victim as well but Mayhem brings up a good point that no matter how much bad shit happens to us, that we have no right to inflict bad shit onto others.

Tandy doesn’t give up her crusade to save Lia and ends up in a tie, her dagger against Mayhem and Mayhem’s deadly finger nails against her throat.

Mayhem gives in but tells Tandy whatever Lia does is on her and no one else.

I liked mayhems words but I’m also glad that they didn’t kill Lia. I think this was growth for Tandy who would have easily done it in season one.

Becoming a God

Tandy and Tyrone find out from one of Tyrone’s leads where Andre is.

They head there and find all of the missing girls, including Makayla and Tandy’s mom.

Another cool scene

Tandy is so obsessed with saving her mom that she doesn’t realize Andre is almost finished with his solo.

Thankfully Tyrone does and tells Tandy to through a knife. She does and Tyrone transports it right into Andre.

Didn’t go as planned

When they did though all the women plus Andre vanish and they are left alone and confused.

A God Awakens

The last time we see Andre is back in his record store and the door with his Veve opens and he becomes a Loa as he steps into a music hall to play for everyone.

Final thoughts

This season has just rocked. From the couple of name drops, to the fact that they tackle serious issues without flinching an eyebrow, this show continues to prove why it’s the best Marvel show on TV.

Honestly, the only thing that I can hope is that in the final episode of the season we see Tandy and Tyrone become closer not only as the divine pairing but as lovers.

Cloak and Daggers season finale airs Thursday May 30th at 8/9c on Freeform
