Michael Connelly fans can look forward to seeing “The Lincoln Lawyer”, Mickey Haller, on CBS.
Deadline reported that David E. Kelley and A+E Studios have received a “series production commitment” from CBS to bring author Michael Connelly’s popular character “The Lincoln Lawyer” to television. Connelly will lend his expertise in the role of co-executive producer alongside Kelley and Ross Fineman. While Connelly writes Mickey Haller in his best-selling novels, Kelley has put pen to paper for the television series. A+E Studios and CBS will produce the drama together.
Fans have long wanted to see Mickey Haller join forces with Harry Bosch on the popular Amazon Prime original series Bosch. Alas, ownership of the film rights has been an obstacle. Lionsgate TV held the rights after The Lincoln Lawyer movie starring Mathew McConaughey. The rights have most recently been purchased by A+E Studios. Either way, Michael Connelly has not been able to introduce Mickey Haller on the Bosch series. Instead, the writers have creatively re-tooled some storylines to utilize attorney Honey Chandler in his absence.

It will be interesting to see what David E. Kelley does with ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ character. In Connelly’s novels, defense attorney Mickey Haller employs some unconventional methods. One of the most notable is his mobile office space in the back of his Lincoln Town Car. Aside from a familial connection with half-brother Harry Bosch, Connelly relies on a host of other regular characters to keep Haller’s operation running, such as investigator Cisco.
There is always the question of whether or not a character’s portrayal on screen will be faithful to its book origins. Some fans long for an almost exact replica while others are more open to an adaptation of sorts. Which do you prefer? Let us know what you hope CBS and David E.
