Shifting Gears: Mashup Podcast

Shifting Gears Season 2 starts this upcoming Wednesday, October 1:

Shifting Gears:

Tim Allen and Kat Dennings star in Shifting Gears, which is available on the ABC Network or streaming on Hulu.

Julie Thacker Scully and Mike Scully created Shifting Gears for ABC. The series also stars Seann William Scott, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis. It premiered on ABC on January 8, 2025. In April 2025, ABC renewed the series for a second season, which is slated to premiere this upcoming Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The premise of the show is that while still mourning the death of his wife, a widower named Matt Parker runs an auto restoration shop. He reluctantly takes in his estranged daughter and his two grandchildren. Parker’s daughter has recently separated from her husband.

Pete and Mike have both enjoyed the show since its premiere, so they decided to get together to discuss the show. They discuss their favorite moments from the first season. And also cover their favorite characters too.

Tim Allen does it again:

Shifting Gears is the third television series to star Tim Allen. His earlier shows were big hits with multiple seasons. Home Improvement and Last Man Standing were both massive hits for ABC in the past. Will Shifting Gears make it a trifecta of television shows for the network and Tim Allen?

Kat Dennings:

Kat is not new to a hit television series either. She starred in the CBS show 2 Broke Girls, which ran for six seasons with 138 episodes. She has also appeared in multiple Marvel movies over the past decade.

The main cast includes:

Tim Allen as Matt Parker

Kat Dennings as Riley Parker

Seann William Scott as Gabriel

Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch

Maxwell Simkins as Carter, Riley’s son

Barrett Margolis as Georgia, Riley’s daughter

Pete and Mike are hoping to cover the episodes like we do with Daryl Dixon and Dead City. A couple at a time, so stay tuned for upcoming coverage.
