‘Riverdale’ renews contracts

The CW

Riverdale‘s Fab Four were recently offered a multi-year contract hinting that the show will be around for a while.

KJ Apa, who plays Archie Andrews, is currently promoting his film I Still Believe and spilled the beans to The Los Angeles Times that the contract is for three years and his other cast mates Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, and Camila Mendes were offered the same deal.

Riverdale, which premiered in 2017, is based on the characters from the Archie Comics and was officially renewed for a fifth season in January.

The possibility of more seasons is exciting, but what does this mean for the story since season 4 is all about senior year? Apa did tease that graduation will be surprising and unexpected.

“That’s the interesting thing about next season, is we can go anywhere,” Apa said. “The only kind of spoiler I can give people is: It’s not your typical ‘graduate high school and then…’ It’s gonna surprise a lot of people, I think.”

Honestly, this statement is enough to hype the end of the season before the Fab Four go their separate ways: Veronica to New York City, Bughead to Yale and Archie sticking around in Riverdale. But again, season 5 is still a mystery.

The only thing we know is that Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols, AKA F.P. Jones and Hermione Lodge, will not be reprising their roles. Rumors have been flying that due to their exit and the Fab Four are becoming adults, there may be a five-year time jump. What do you think about that?

This is Riverdale after all, and literally anything can happen.

Riverdale Season 4 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
