Earthling hit Resident Alien has more on the way.

For those of you that enjoy science fiction and dark comedies, Resident Alien is definitely one you should check out, if you are not already watching. The first two seasons are available on Netflix with all three seasons available on Peacock.

News broke recently that we’ll be getting more of our favorite alien, Harry Vanderspeigle and his friends. Resident Alien has been renewed for a 4th season and is moving from SYFY to USA Network. The series stars Alan Tudyk as an alien who crash lands on Earth and tries to blend in with humans in a small fictional Colorado town called Patience all while hiding his secret mission to destroy all of humanity.

Cast is a blast

Resident Alien also stars Sara Tomko (Asta Twelvetrees), Corey Reynolds (Sheriff Mike Thompson), Alice Wetterlund (D’arcy Bloom), Levi Fiehler (Mayor Ben Hawthorne), Elizabeth Bowen (Deputy Liv Baker), Judah Prehn (Max Hawthorne), and Meredith Garretson (Kate Hawthorne).

Some notable science-fiction alum guest appearances on Resident Alien include Nathan Fillion, George Takei, Linda Hamilton, and Terry O’Quinn.

Humor is out of this world

My So Many Shows associate, Tracey Phillipps, recommended the show to me a few months ago and when I started watching it, I couldn’t get enough. The banter between Harry and Max (Max is a kid in town who is the only one able to see Harry in his true alien form) is hilarious, plus all the internal dialogue from Harry will make you laugh cry at times.

I enjoy sci-fi shows, but the thing I like most about this show is that Harry says he is more intelligent than all humans (at times comparing human intelligence to lizards), yet he needs to look up YouTube videos to perform any of the medical procedures when posing as the town’s doctor.

Connections are magnetic

Seeing the main friendship throughout the series between Harry and Asta develop is, at times, a wild ride. They meet in the first episode 4 months after Harry crash landed, after Harry is asked to investigate the death of the, up to that time, current town doctor.

Asta had worked under Dr. Hodges as his nurse and considered him a very close friend. Harry first rules the death a suicide, but after some convincing does a full autopsy on Dr. Hodges with Asta’s help. Asta always felt like she was an outsider in the town, but after a rocky start, she and Harry come to discover they each feel like outsiders.

Another thing about this show is that it can also be serious at times as well. It’s not just a sitcom, it has family moments between Asta and her dad, Dan (played by Gary Farmer). We see friendships flourish between characters and of course, Harry enjoying some of the joys life has to offer here on planet Earth, especially pizza.

Origins

The show is based on the Dark Horse-published comic of the same name by Peter Hogan & Steve Parkhouse. Resident Alien was developed for television by showrunner Chris Sheridan. The Family Guy alum serves as executive producer along with Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Robert Duncan McNeill, & Nastaran Dibai.

There is no release date as of yet for the 4th season of Resident Alien, but I’ve read that besides the network change everything else about the hit sci-fi series (97% on Rotten Tomatoes) remains the same, right down to the supporting cast members.
