There are some big reveals this week on Perfect Harmony.

Perfect Harmony is back this week with lots of pageantry, most specifically the Conley Fork’s Finest pageant. Cash is competing for the title among the town’s young men (and one girl – fair is fair!) Ginny is stalling (no bathroom pun intended -wink!) on taking a pregnancy test to find out if she and Wayne are expecting.

Reverend Jax is leading the charge in the church rummage sale. Jax, Adams and Dwayne use a long-standing rumor to boost sales at the fundraiser. Adams struggles with revealing some information to boyfriend Karl.

Let’s take a look at the “high notes” from Perfect Harmony episode ‘Know When to Walk Away’.

First place or second fiddle

Ginny desperately wants Cash to win the Conley Fork’s Finest pageant. She is convinced she is pregnant despite having not taken a pregnancy test. The nervous mom wants to Cash to feel special because he may soon have to share the family spotlight with a sibling.

Ginny hopes that Arthur can help Cash win since he is a judge in the competition. Arthur declares that he will only play fair. It turns out that Cash has a real shot at winning. His biggest opponent is Blake Lake Jr. who comes from a long line of Conley Fork’s Finest winners. Cash sings a crowd-pleasing rendition of the ‘The Gambler’. Unfortunately, Blake Lake Jr.’s keyboard performance outshines Cash’s song.

Ginny and Wayne try to convince Arthur and fellow judge Torsten Van Blaricum (played by Bradley Whitford’s West Wing co-star Joshua Malina) to throw their votes to Cash instead of Blake. Torsten refuses, but Arthur is moved by Ginny’s tirade about some people getting all the breaks in life. She likens her family’s situation to a mini-trampoline with missing springs. She pulls springs from the trampoline based on income, where one is born and relationship choices. Arthur agrees to vote for Cash.

“Scratch” that

The pageant continues and Blake Lake Jr. is ready to compete in the athletic segment. His family has enough money to rent the Kentucky Wildcasts mascot “Scratch” (or at least a look-a-like). Blake is ready to spring from a mini-trampoline over Scratch’s head and dunk a basketball in the net.

Oops! It’s the mini-trampoline that Ginny unknowingly sabotaged during her rant to Arthur. There’s little time to alert the contestant and Blake leaps on the trampoline and falls into Scratch with both landing on the floor.

Could this be Cash’s chance to take first place? Maybe. But instead Cash goes to the microphone and implores the judges to name Blake Lake Jr. the winner. After all, he would have won had he not fallen prey to the trampoline mishap. The judges agree and Blake is crowned.

Rummage sale ruse

Meanwhile, Reverend Jax heads up the rummage sale at the church. Dwayne and Adams are helping out as well. The three of them agree to use the rumor about Adams murdering her husband to increase sales.

For example, Ms. Mae, an avid Dateline viewer, pays a hefty price for a hammer “donated” by Adams with fingerprints intact. Another customer is willing to pay for a “selfie” with Adams and a roll of duct tape.

Adams’ boyfriend Karl joins her at the sale and hears Reverend Jax mention the rumors surrounding Adams’ husband.

Lyin’ to Tryin’

You may recall the clever nickname Arthur gave Karl at Thanksgiving. Dr. Cochran calls Karl “Tryin’ Gosling” for his passing resemblance to actor Ryan Gosling. So it would seem that Adams has been “lyin'” to “Tryin'” about her past. He was not aware that Adams had been married. And he certainly was not privy to the rumors about her husband’s demise.

Adams tries to joke with Karl about her husband. Karl does not find it funny and is disappointed that Adams has been keeping information from him. He decides to leave saying he will be back if Adams wants to be honest.

Reverend Jax confronts Adams about using the longstanding rumor to keep from getting close with her suitors. He encourages her to talk openly with Karl. She obliges and sits down with Karl for a chat. She says she is not ready to share everything yet, but that she will open up when she is ready. Karl is encouraged.

Wait, what?

Just when we think things are wrapping up sweetly, we get a some interesting reveals. First, Ginny finally takes the pregnancy test and learns she is not pregnant after all.

Cash did try to do the right thing by conceding the crown to Blake. He also used the announcement to his advantage having told Dwayne to place a bet against Cash and for Blake. Since the odds were against Blake in the wake of his failed athletic performance, his victory makes Cash both noble and a whole lot richer .

Finally, Adams leaves a voicemail for her very much alive husband Keith saying they need to talk!

Side “notes”:

Cash certainly had a big night this week on Perfect Harmony. Spencer Allport gave a wonderful performance as the young pageant contestant. His singing was fantastic!
