NBC plans to “craft” a third season of Making It.

That’s right! NBC has announced the renewal of Making It for season 3. The ever popular and inspirational crafting competition will be “weaving” its way back into the television lineup once again.

There is no word yet on a date or if the season will air in a compressed format like season 2. The sophomore season of Making It concluded in less than 2 weeks in contrast to the 6 week schedule of season 1.

Many fans were thrilled to be able to tune into Making It on consecutive nights in the first 2 weeks of December. Others might say the schedule felt rushed and difficult to keep up with during the busy holiday season. Of course, fans can always watch the episodes at their own pace via DVR and Hulu.

We will have to wait and see on the schedule. Something that is most definitely working in the show’s favor, however, is the pairing of hosts Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. Nick and Amy are the contestants’ biggest cheerleaders. They are also there to dial down the stress factor with their incessant craft puns, jokes and self-deprecating humor.

Another beloved element of the series is the kindness shared among the contestants. These crafters and makers are a generous lot, willing to help one another with final touches on each other’s projects when the clock is ticking.

The opportunity to learn the contestant back stories is also a welcomed feature of the competition. Personally, that’s also one of the reasons I prefer the season to air across a longer time frame. I feel like it gives us longer to get to know those in the running.

We can celebrate the renewal announcement for Making It knowing that more crafting fun and inspiration is on the way. Master Makers Khiem Nguyen (season 1) and Justine Silva (season 2) can now look forward to another maker sharing the title with them!
