Legends of Tomorrow Episode 17: Guest Staring John Noble

Legends of Tomorrow Episode 17

Legends of Tomorrow Episode 17 "Guest Starring John Noble"

Legends of Tomorrow Episode 17

The season is winding down and the legends are on the road to fight their most dangerous foe yet, Mallus himself. But first they have to face a giant telepathic ape and the destruction on Zambesi. What did the second to last episode bring us? Let’s find out.

Amaya, Nate and Wally

Nate and Wally go to stop Amaya from rescuing her family in Zambesi, but Nate can’t do it, so instead he helps her.

They learn that Amaya’s daughter Esi (played by Erica Tazel) didn’t want to take on the responsibilities that come from the Anansi totem. Amaya has a talk with her daughter and tells her that even her mother questioned bearing the totem. She was able to talk Esi into believing in herself and Esi fought to save the village.

The mission didn’t come without heartbreak. Nate learns that elder Amaya erased her own memory so she didn’t remember her love for Nate. My own heart almost broke at that moment. But after Nate successfully got rid of Grodd using the Earth totem, and the elder Amaya suffering a bump on the head, she remembered Nate. It was bittersweet and very sad. I guess they answered the question all of us Nate and Amaya shippers were asking, and I for one do not like the answer.

If that wasn’t enough we saw the destruction of another couple bringing us to…

Sara and Ava

On prodding from Sara, Ava confronted Rip about her history and what she found out was shocking and painful. Rip told Ava that she was the twelfth version of Ava that has worked for the time bureau . This completely destroyed anything left of Ava believing she was special.

Not only did Sara have to deal with working with Damian, but she also kept running into him. The time that mattered though is when they had a little chat in the hallway. Damian told her that he was devastated by what happened to Nora and that he would do anything to get her back. Also continuing on his path of self redemption, Damian told Sara that what kept her from killing her crew while under the Death totem, was that she harbored love. Sara stomps off and leaves Damian thinking in the darkness alone.

After Ava refuses to go along with Sara’s plan, Sara confronts her and tells her that she still loves her. Ava backs away and walks through to the time bureau and disappears leaving a bewildered Sara alone.

I really hope that by the end of the last episode Ava and Sara truly find their way back to one another.

The Others

We got to see a young Barack Obama give Sara some great advice about following her own heart.

We also got to see the softer side of Damian which I really hope leads to some sort of redemption. We’ve seen so many so-called monsters get redeemed in the Arrowverse, I feel Damian deserves to as well.

I am really hoping that this is the last time we will see Gorilla Grodd.

John Noble, the voice of Mallus, guest starred as himself on the set of Lord of the Rings. He really loves to play the evil characters.

What do we want in the season finale

They need to wrap up the storyline! I hope that they send Amaya off without too much sadness, though breaking up her and Nate isn’t going to be easy.

Who will be left on the Waverider at the end? We know we will probably lose Amaya and we just gained Wally, so I hope he stays around. We know John Constantine will be joining the ship full time next season. But will all the others remain? It might be too hard for Nate to stay on the Waverider if Amaya leaves. Ray, Sara and Mick are the only original three left so hopefully none of them leave. I also hope the fact we are seeing Sara on the last episode of Arrow means that they will be bringing Black Siren on board.

Will the totems stick around? I hope so because Mick wielding the fire totem is awesome. I like the fact he finally has a role and hopefully the will allow him a bigger one in the upcoming season.

What do you all want to see in the finale? Sound off in the comments below…
