Take a tour from home with Georgia Film and Chill!
It is not possible to remain socially distanced on a tour bus, but Atlanta Movie Tours does not want fans to miss out. You can still learn about filming locations for your favorite shows (and movies!). Think Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, Ozark and more. You can now visit filming locations for your favorite shows from home with Atlanta Movie Tours’ latest offering, Georgia Film and Chill.

Tickets are currently available for $10 for the “Best of Atlanta” version of Georgia Film and Chill. Atlanta Movie Tours is also planning other varieties of virtual tours. The “Best of Atlanta” virtual tour option is offered on Sundays at 1:30 pm ET as well as Wednesdays at 5:30 pm ET.
Convenience
I had the fun of experiencing the premiere installment of Georgia Film and Chill last week. I was able to snuggle in bed with snacks of my choice and learn all about filming in Georgia. The convenience is unbeatable. Of course, seeing locations in person is fantastic and Atlanta Movie Tours is excited about making that available again when it is safe. Meanwhile, you can forego the commute to downtown and stay in your pajamas if you like!
I think this is also a great opportunity for tourists who are not so easily able to drive to Atlanta for an in-person visit. They can still get the scoop and enjoy the excitement of learning how everyday buildings can be transformed into something for film.
Inside Scoop
I have enjoyed Atlanta Movie Tours offerings in the past, but I still learned new things on my recent visit with Georgia Film and Chill.
Colin, our tour guide via Zoom, has worked in film projects just like all the other guides at Atlanta Movie Tours. He was able to share stories about filming from his very own experience. The virtual tour is so much more than just pointing out buildings that were used. You can expect stories about the actors, transformation techniques, trivia and more.
There is also something I could not get on an in-person tour. The virtual Georgia Film and Chill experience allows you to see fantastic images inside Tyler Perry Studios. Mr. Perry’s studio does not currently offer tours to the public, so I was thrilled at the unique opportunity to take a look at his back lot and the acres and acres of studio property. We found out how Perry is able to produce his projects like The Oval so much faster than a typical filming schedule. Also, we see how a single building functions as 4 different architectural styles.
Interactive
For Georgia Film and Chill, you are at home and your guide is comfortable in their own home. The bus is not actually travelling to the physical locations on the feed. If it did, there is no way you could cover so much ground in 70 minutes! Instead you see images comparing the locations with images from the shows and movies combined with fascinating commentary from your guide. You can chat freely with other guests on the Chat tab and log your specific questions for your guide on the Q&A tab.
